The Supreme Court Wednesday upheld the victory of the governor of River State, Mr. Nyesom Wike.
The judgment overrules the judgement of the Appeal Court which upheld the nullification of his election by the Election Petition Tribunal.
Reasons for the judgement to be listed on Feb 12.
Governor Wike had filed twenty grounds of appeal to the Supreme Court, alleging that the election tribunal relied on hearsay and inadmissible evidence to arrive at its judgment.
According to Governor Nyesom Wike, the tribunal had wrongly refused to follow the decision in Agbaje versus Ambode, which held that the use or non-use of card reader cannot be a ground for questioning or nullifying an election.
