It seems to be a season of strange death that is ravaging the Nigerian entertainment world lately. Barely 24 hours after the death of popular dancer Kemi Omotoyinbo (aka Kemi Paso) was announced, another sad news has crept into the showbiz arena as Taiwo Oshadipe of the famous Oshadipe Twins group gave up the ghost in the early hours of today.

Former House of Reps Speaker Dimeji Bankole is in pains at the moment. We heard that whie Nigeria was celebrating her birthday yesterday the 1st of October, the former number four citizen was busy mourning the death of his  7 year old daughter, Yewande Semiat Bankole.
The little girl lost a battle with the dreaded but avoidable sickle cell anemia at  a London hospital yesterday October 1st.

Controversy Trails Attempt To Sell MKO Abiola's Property

The Governing Council of Zulikha Abiola Centre for Arabic and Islamic Studies, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital has cried out over an attempt to sell a property belonging to the late business mogul and politician, Chief MKO, Abiola.

The property, located on a parcel of land at Abiola way area of the state capital has been in use for Islamic School with a big mosque used by an Islamic organization for their Sunday worships and other activities.

Remi Oyo: Olujimi commiserates with family


A former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Olujimi, has commiserated with the family of late former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, Remi Oyo, over her death.
In a statement on Friday, Olujimi described Oyo as "a warm, forthcoming and genial media practitioner".
She said Oyo was also a true Ekiti daughter, firm, simple and fair. 
She added: "We have lost a great soul. 
"May God grant her humble soul eternal rest. 
"Her family should be consoled that she came, she saw and she conquered and touched many lives. 
"She will be sorely missed."

Oyo Law Maker Sends Thugs After Journalist

The peaceful atmosphere in Ibadan was disturbed, yesterday, as some suspected thugs believed to be supporters of a legislator of Oyo State House of Assembly (names withheld) allegedly beat up the Director of Engineering, Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, BCOS, Mr. Akinniyi Akinlabi.

The action of the lawmaker’s supporters led to a protest by members of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union, RATTAWU, who angrily locked up the gate to protest the maltreatment of their boss.

First Diamond Woman Enterprise Seminar Holds in Ibadan

Kwara Inaugurates Committee on LCDA


Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has inaugurated a 14 man committee on the creation of Local Government Council Development Areas in the State, saying this was in response to people’s clamour for more local government areas in the State.

Governor Ahmed said that despite the increase in the State’s population, extensive land mass and other demographic features, some local government councils like Asa, Moro and Ifelodun created in 1976 have remained unchanged while several others have been created out of the others.

Synagogue Collapse Building: Death Toll Rises To 150

As forensic efforts are ongoing to identify the victims of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) tragedy, conflicting reports have again allegedly shot up the death toll to 150.
The new figure of the death toll is 35 persons higher than the last figure of 115, which was touted last week as authentic.

Update on IBB's Health


A four-man Niger State government delegation that visited former military President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) in a German hospital said the retired leader is in perfect condition.


He is billed to return by October 10 after a surgery for a bone-related ailment.

The delegation, led by Commissioner for Agriculture, Prof Yahaya Kuta Mohammed, spent over three hours with the former military leader at the private home  where he is recuperating.

Police Commissioners To Issue Tinted Glass Permit


The Inspector-General of Police, Acting IGP Suleiman Abba,  CFR, NPM, NPOM, mni, has decentralized the issuance of tinted glass permit. He has delegated the power to Commissioners of Police in charge of State Commands so as to bring service closer to the people.
