Governor Amosun In Fresh Forgery Mess.........The EFCC Connection

Read how his desperate move to nail Otunba Gbenga Daniel hit brick wall

As legal fireworks continued in the trumped up charges instituted against the former governor of Ogun State,. Otunba Gbenga Daniel by the EFCC, revelations have emerged as to the frantic efforts of Amosun's government to collude with the EFCC by falsifying documents.

One of the EFCC witnesses, Mr. Solomon Alade Adewunmi, Director of Finance and Administration, Bureau of Lands and Survey whose schedule of office include recording of revenue paid to the State government on land matters confirmed that Otunba Gbenga Daniel paid all fees due for payment.
Adewunmi, who said he had put in 23 years in service however revealed that it was the EFCC that directed them to produce CERTIFIED TRUE COPIES of some of the documents contrary to the original most of which were said to have been been misplaced or missing.

It was also discovered that one of the Exhibits tendered (Exh. 54) which contained all the ledgers for payment for administration, form, government survey, registration, preparation, premium etc were neither serially numbered nor paginated. In fact Adewunmi agreed in totality with the defence counsel when he proclaimed right inside the court that "THE RECORDS AS  IN OGUN STATE BUREAU OF LANDS AND SURVEY AS TENDERED BY THE EFCC ARE NOT SERIALLY NUMBERED AND PAGINATED which was quite in contrast to the general laid down regulations of the civil service. Adewunmi himself confessed that the essence of numbering and paging documents was for easy reference.

During cross examination, it was laso discovered that Exh. 54 did not show any payment made in respect of land matters in the whole of 2003. This Adewunmi said was due to the pressure on then and the frantic efforts to make sure that specific individuals and corporate bodies were indicted as 'directed'.
Another shocking revelation was that part of the entries on item 8 of Exh. 54 ws deliberately covered abd blacked-out before photocopies were made leaving about ten spaces blank without any entry.

The payment made by former governor Daniel it was gathered was same paid by other allottes including Obasanjo farms Nigeria Ltd, Capt. Gbemi Obasanjo, Group Captain G. A. Oghene and Pastor A. O. Itiola among many others.
The second witness for the day, Adeboyejo Fatai, Acting Director of Land Title Ratification also confessed that all the land in question were for OPIC which was on sub lease to OGD with all the necessary procedures duly carried out and consented to by the Attorney -General and the Commissioner for Justice. None of the lands, it was discovered was directly requested for by Otunba Gbenga Daniel.
Meanwhile, hearing on the suit has been put forward till 4th and 5th December, 2014.
