Three months after dropping the much touted hit
single, ‘Juleke’, and owing to popular clamour and yearnings of his fans,
youthful Afro Pop crooner, Jazzman Olofin has just dropped yet another hit
single. This effort, according to music pundits is “long overdue”.
Titled ‘BOOGATTI`,
this single is a justification of Jazzman’s superb mastery of his style of
music. Recorded, mixed, mastered and produced by Smoothkiss, the single is
released on Jazzman Olofin Entertainment record label in working conjunction
with Yubby Damson Production.
Meanwhile, the single’s promotional and marketing
mix has been activated, an action that has already started generating a lot of
excitement in Nigeria’s musical industry going by comments, reviews, ratings
and air plays being accorded it.
Presently, and ahead of the release of his next
album, Jazzman Olofin alongside his management outfit are putting finishing
touches to a contractual working agreement with a yet to be disclosed international
promotion company, a leading entertainment outfit with impressive antecedents
of music promotion across the global entertainment industry towards deploying a
‘soft landing’ that will herald the release of the album.
Ahead of the release of the album, `BOOGATTI` is already enjoying
favourable reviews and positive comments from music critics and analysts in the
entertainment industry. Top on the list were comments expressed by music
writers of the print and electronic media at a recently held private listening/
review gathering for ‘BOOGATTI’.
According to Jazzman Olofin, “few months ago, I
dropped a single titled ‘Juleke’ which was a reflection of my musical
dexterity. Juleke’s acceptance actually spurred and inspired me to drop this
new single. This single is actually well overdue but it was necessitated by my
very tight, busy schedule of shuttling between different locations to honour
engagements and appointments for music business. Over and above that, I had to really
and painstakingly take my time to ensure that I come out with something worth
being associated with for my fans and admirers”.
On a philosophical note, Jazzman explained that “my
journey through life has been one filled with so much dramatic experience which
has ultimately turned me into a corner stone; and all these obviously wouldn’t
have been possible without the favours and grace of Almighty Allah, my Parents,
my lovely wife, all of whom have been solid pillars of support right from day one
and of course, to the people I owe so much as far as my career is concerned; my
fans!”
Born Olumuyiwa Olajide Olofinkuade on
August 3 in the early 70’s in Agege, a
suburb of Lagos, Nigeria, Jazzman Olofin found his ear for music at the
age of ten sitting quietly on the wings and watching his siblings perform in
the choir of St Andrews African Church Iju-Lagos. An instinct for understanding
tones, lyrics and musical arrangement grew in him.
This passion and curiosity about music in all its
many facets continued with him throughout his school days at Fagba Grammar
School (Lagos ) to when he was at the University of Lagos to obtain a degree in
Philosophy. While in the University of Lagos, he was a member of a musical
group called X-APPEAL, as well as a member of a theatrical club called ‘Theater
15’.
The unforgettable memories of long lonely nights (as
a child living far away from home) in his past listening to the songs of S
Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, IK Dairo, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Victor Olaiya, Orlando
Owoh, Teddy Pendergrass, Stevie Wonder, Barry White and others too many to
remember has led to the style of his music… a rich blend of rhythm and blues,
funk and highlife with a sensational voice laced with tasty arrangements.
Gentle and unassuming by nature, he loves to read,
meet people of different hues and persuasions, sit down and contemplate the
world in quite places or take long walks in the evening and with a keen and
intelligent eye watching people, places, things, events, and turn his
impressions into material for his songs…songs that talk about life and love in
its many shades…the trials, tribulations, the joys, the many complications…
Jazzman has featured in many shows and is a huge
favorite of crowds who love his pulsating beats and lyrics that are a sweet mix
of Yoruba flavour and English words. He forgets his private self and just gets
“wild” on the stage, tapping into the flow of the crowd, striving to return
their love and adulation by exciting them with adulating performances.
After his split-up with his partner, Lexxy Doo of
the X-Appeal fame, Jazzman Olofin debuted his solo career with "Big
mess" in 2001, and followed it up with “Boiling point” in 2003. In 2006,
he released “Mr Funky”, “Fire” in 2009
and "Ready 2 Go" in 2001. He has done collaborations with Ruggedman,
Blackky, Julius Agwu, Sasha, Dare Art Alade, GT. Guitarman, Paul Play Dairo,
Adewale Ayuba, Musiliu Haruna Ishola, Naeto C, M.I, Dagrin, e.t.c.
Over the years, Jazzman is widely known to have
dropped massive classic hit tracks like " Raise da Roof", "Shake
Sumthing", "Eko ile", " Omoshalewa", Let them
Say", "Ready 2 Go", "Sho like e” and many more. Having
worked with top labels like Corporate Pictures, Kennis Music, Storm Records,
Jazzman is currently running his own outfit “Jazzman Olofin Entertainment.
