OPINION:What Is To Be Done - Olawole Olakunle

What is to be done?


It's no longer news that the environment we are is quite unbecoming and inhabitable all thanks to a failed generation and a people blessed with an history of betrayal and colossal failure in all ramifications of life, economic, science, government, and history.

As I subsequently ruminate on the quest for a better Nigeria and why Nigeria is the way she is today I find it expedient to stop deliberating and start acting, hence this piece is not geared towards the problem that we have so much paid lips attention to, but the solution that would be backed by action, actions whose climax is not limited to the arms way.
Because chance has never yet satisfied the hope of a suffering people. Action, self reliance, the vision of self and the future have been the only means by which the oppressed have seen and realized the light of their own freedom.
Unfortunately,when I look at the extremely gullible gathering of Nigeria youths, I find it quite appalling that I wasn't only born in this generation, but amidst people whose celestial ambition is to wear a couple of Italian shoe, or snap picture with leaders they are supposed to gun down without remorse.

I can go on and on to express how sad it is to be part of this current crop of youths and to be called a Nigerian at this point in time, but that is not the reason for this season.
I have seen so many twitter activist and Facebook revolutionist here in Nigeria who can quote Lenin or Leon Trotsky even in their dreams but who can't stand up to the Local government councillor extortionist mandate. But permit me to quote president roosevelt by saying "it's not the critics who count nor the man who points out how strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done them better, the credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again, because there is no effort without errors and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deeds, who know the great enhusiast, the great devotion, who spends himself. In a worthy cause who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at worst, if he fails at least he fails while doing greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls, who knows neither victory nor defeat.
Hence I ask the Nigerian youth, what is to be done?

It's is important to know that the problem facing Nigerians is firstly beyond the political class, it's an encompassing problem that transcend from Language, to forceful union, to education model, to religious model and all what not, yet it's expedient to know that political decisions is the fulcrum to every other problems in Nigeria, In as much as Political decision determines the price of pepper in the market.

Fellow Nigerian youths, it's is important to be angry and hitherto channel our emotion of anger into a productive cause that would take Nigeria away from the current crop of continually recycled elite structure.
Barriers must be broken, political power must be forcefully taken else we would all continue to lampoon ourselves on social media, been divided amongst ourselves as media aide to those jeopardizing our future.
We cannot continue to remain gullible, we cannot afford to fail our generation, we need a movement that would make the world shiver, we need to dislodge the good for nothing political class, We need a bolshevik conglomerate of Nigerian youths, ready to fight the battle of political liberation from those who eat our future away and give us sorrow, tears and blood there regular trademark.
Enough is Enough! I refuse to continue to be a curse to my generation hence, I would stand up and forcefully reshuffle Nigeria, whereas it's not a man's Job, it is of celestial importance that the movement be geared to actualization by fellow Nigerian youths as we cannot continue to believe that it would get better until we stand up to act.

This is what is to be done! To be productively angry and unanimously act to liberate Nigeria from the shackles of the class of 1960 who are capitalist at heart and destroy the class structure created to make you and I puppets and errand boys, whose mentality and thinking faculty has been subdued by poverty.
I refuse! I refuse!! I refuse!!!

2017 is a year to say NO!
