Ogun PDP Dis-associates Self From PDP State Chairmen's Visit To Kashamu Buruji

A recent visit of some state chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to Senator Kashamu Buruji (Ogun East Senatorial District) has been described as an act of betrayal and an anti-party activity that would not lead to any positive development.

In a statement released on behalf of the Chairman of the Ogun State Chapter of the PDP, Hon. Sikurullahi Olawale Ogundele by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Malik Olamilekan Ibitoye, the visit is condemnable and should not be supported by any right thinking member of the party.

While dis-associating the state chapter of the party from the visit, Ogundele stated that it smarks of hypocrisy and irresponsibility 'on the part of the so-called state party chairmen.'

He added in the statement that it is unthinkable that some state chairmen of the party would visit someone who has since been suspended by the party, adding that the visiting chairmen should be sanctioned 'for involving themselves in an act that would add to the challenges the party is facing at this critical moment.'

"We all know the roles played by Senator Buruji Kasamu and his anti democratic agents and collaborators in making sure that the PDP lost the last governorship election in Ondo State to the All Progressives Congress. It is on record that Buruji's ally, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim openly admitted that they all worked for APC to win. ''We at the Ogun State chapter of the PDP see the visit as un-called for and an anti-party activity. It is not only surprising that the party chairmen could visit someone that has been suspended by the national body of the party, it is unwarranted, unethical and retrogresssive.

"Such a development should not be allowed at this time that we are talking of re-positioning our great party for the 2019 elections. All hands should be on deck to bring back the lost glory of the party rather than romancing a discredited member of the party, whose image is at the lowest ebb.

"Our party should not tolerate irresponsible acts from some undesirable element, who could not read between the lines. It is an inglorious and uncharitable exercise that our party cannot afford at this critical time," Ogundele was quoted as saying.

Ibitoye added in the statement that the visiting state chairmen of the party ought to have channeled their energy to productive ventures and prove to the people of Nigeria that the PDP is ready to take over power at the national and state levels, 'rather than partaking in a show of shame, adding that the state chairmen involved should realise that it is no longer business as usual for them.

He said; "With the visit, the visiting state chairmen of the PDP, who took part in the exercise, should be removed and suspended from the party. The visit has shown that they are the enemies within, who are working for the fall of the party.

"This action should not go unpunished. They should be sanctioned to serve as a deterrent to others because with these, those state party chairmen have scored an own goal, which we cannot afford at this material time."

Meanwhile, the Ogun PDP Chairman has enjoined party faithfuls to ignore a purported inauguration of an unknown Ogun State chapter of the South West Mobilisation and Organization Committee by the same Senator Kasamu, wondering where and when did a suspended member of a party derives its power and authority for such exercise. "It is just a social club in Ijebu Igbo, their master's home town where they drink and do some diabolical things. It is not recognized by the legally recognized PDP both at the national level and in Ogun State and should be likened to the convergence of jobless and insipid marauders seeking attention in Ogun State political space.'' Ogundele added.

The PDP chairman however, assured the people of Ogun State and Nigerians generally that the PDP is prepared to serve them better once the party is given a chance in the coming elections.

He added that the current economic, security and political situations in Nigeria are pointers to the fact that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has no solution to the numerous problems c‎onfronting the country.
