The town erstwhile known as Ondo town got elevated in status as it was proclaimed a city at this years' Ekimogun Day. 2015 Ekimogun Day is the 28th edition of the very colourful festival which always serve as the umbrella platform to unite all sons and daughters of Ondo and feature them paying homage to His Royal Majesty,Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo the Osemawe and paramount ruler of Ondo Kingdom.
It was a gathering of who is who in Ondo Kingdom and indeed Ondo State as the State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko who incidentally is a son of the soil, together with his amiable wife,Mrs.Olukemi Mimiko who stood with the Royal Host to felicitate with the people of Ondo Kingdom.
Several social clubs,associations,union,corporate bodies,school children and others from various walks of life where part of the long procession that took turn in colourful parades showcasing the beauty,custom and tradition of the Ondo people.
Notable son and daughters of the Kingdom were vested with honour in recognition of their individual achievements and being source of inspiration and pride to the Kingdom. Hon.Otunba Ade Adeniyi,the current Chairman,House Committee on Finance and Appropriation,Ondo State House of Assembly was nominated as special guest.
At the gala nite which had another son of the soil,King Sunny Ade on bandstand,also had the governor and his wife in attendance,the first lady was in a joyous mood throut her stay at the gala nite as she encouraged other women to celebrate the night.Chief Mrs Aishat Popoola a big player in the Ondo oil and gas sector was the Chairperson of the nite and she announced the donation of 2Million naira on behalf of herself,family and friends towards the development of the town.
The star attraction of the nite was Erelu Mojisola Adams,the beautiful wife of OPC leader and Convener of OPU worldwide,Otunba Gani Adams. Unknown to many,Erelu Adams is an indigene of Ondo Kingdom and her supportive role behind her husband and the philanthropic gesture of her outfit Oasis Women Organisation caught the attention of the Committee members of Ekimogun Day 2015 and she was appointed the special guest of honour, thru her husband and friends the development of Ondo metropolis got a boost of 1.8Million naira.
