On December 19, 2011, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 66/170 to declare 11 October as the International Day of the Girl Child, to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world.
For its second observance, this year’s Day will focus on “Innovating for Girls’ Education”.
The fulfillment of girls’ right to education is first and foremost an obligation and moral imperative.
The international day of the girl child initiative began as a project of plan international non-governmental organization that operates worldwide. The idea for an international day of observance and celebration grew out of plan international’s Because I Am A Girl campaign, which raises awareness of the importance of nurturing girls globally and in developing countries in particular.
Plan International representatives in Canada approached the Canadian federal government seek support for the initiative.
In the light of the above, The Heartminders project, under her teenage project, Heartminders Youth Club will be joining the rest of the world on the 11th day of October, 2015 to promote girls’ rights, highlighting gender inequalities and addressing discrimination and abuse suffered by girls around the globe.

Our Objective
To build and mend relationships to reduce the trending occurrence of not just unwanted pregnancy and over-population but also broken homes and relationships which have been increasing at a geometric progression.
Our Aim
To offer Nigerians, especially the young adults and teenagers through this project, hope for a better tomorrow, upholding their right to life.
The Heartminders project was conceived with the aim of creating a better and healthier society. That, we set out to achieve by:
Educating and providing reliable information proven to be effective in preventing HIV/AIDS infections, other STIs and unwanted pregnancies to youth, young adults and teenagers across the country through the power and reach of the electronic media (TV, Internet and text messaging platforms).
We work with psychologists, marriage counselors, medical practitioners while mending relationships and marriages. Furthermore we aim to be arbiters of positive lifestyle changes for a more secured future.
We stand at the threshold of a unique opportunity to cause positive change and are determined more than ever to achieve the seeming impossible by standing on the shoulder of giants and we are determined more than ever before to cause a positive change.
