PRESIDENT JONATHAN'S CAMPAIGN VEHICLES SET ABLAZE IN NIGER STATE
Alleged supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday, January 25, 2015 attacked and set ablaze two campaign vehicles belonging to President Goodluck Jonathan in the Suleja area of the Niger state.
THISDAY reports that attack was caused as a result of the jubilation by members of the Peoples Democratic Party who received about 2000 decamped members from the APC during the campaign of PDP Governorship candidate Umar Nasko.
The attack took place after campaign train, which included the Governor of Niger state, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, had left the town for Gurara local government area.
An eye wtiness reports that the quick intervention of the military prevented the rise of the situation and soldiers have condoned off the street in which the incident happened.
An effort to reach the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Niger state police command, DSP M. Gambari, over the incident was abortive.
The eye-witness account said the vehicles were burnt to ashes but no life was lost.
