The All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, will on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, bring together the crème de la crème of the Nigeria Music Industry for an all-important event tagged “AFRIMA 2014 Nigeria Stakeholders’ Conference” at the Four Points By Sheraton in Victoria Island, Lagos under the theme “Harnessing our Music Potential for Africa’s Development”.
The one-day Stakeholders’ Conference is part of the various engagements and activities being embarked on as the International Committee of AFRIMA works assiduously to stage an unrivalled awards event showpiece in Lagos this October. Some other events on the award’s rich calendar include; stakeholders’ conference in other regions of Africa, music concerts on the continent and abroad, an Africa Music Summit and exhibition and a Media Workshop.
With a sub-theme: “Music Returns Beyond an Award: The AFRIMA Perspective”, Special Guest of Honour at the conference is the Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Chief Edem Duke, while keynote addresses will be delivered by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation and Mr. Dayo Adeneye, a veteran entertainment practitioner and record label owner.
The Conference will also attract top government officials from the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Industry which is an institutional partner of AFRIMA, alongside key policy and decision makers, influencers, outstanding professionals and performing artistes in culture, music and entertainment as well as veteran journalists to interactively discuss the strategic significance of AFRIMA 2014 to the vibrant Nigeria music landscape for development.
According to the AFRIMA Director, Brand Communication and Sponsorship, Ms. Matlou Tsotetsi, the AFRIMA 2014 Nigeria Stakeholders’ Conference is informed by the crucial role Nigeria occupies as host country of the award project. “The music industry in Nigeria is perhaps one of the most vibrant on the continent and we can’t be holding an award of this scale in the country without engaging the practitioners in the entertainment industry that have helped to build it to global acclaim and get their buy-in”, Ms. Tsotetsi says.
“The Stakeholders’ Conference is meant to explain everything AFRIMA represents to relevant practitioners in the Nigeria and secure their active participation”, further explains AFRIMA Country Director, Nigeria/Co-Producer, Mr. Kingsley James. “As the sub-theme alludes to, AFRIMA is a project that is presenting Africa in its unbridled strength to the world -our culture, our passion, our creativity, our energy, our breathtaking landscape and our unity. Music is our lifestyle and a component of our culture, so we will be using the instrumentality of music to showcase the African culture to the world”, says Mr. James, a seasoned event producer.

All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, is an iconic continental award conceptualised to celebrate the rich musical heritage of the African race as well as maximally expose African tourism and culture to a worldwide audience. In partnership with the AUC, the 2014 AFRIMA will produce a star-studded, world-class event in Nigeria, with live performances and television broadcast to 84 countries on 109 television stations around the world.
