South African Tourism, the Agency responsible for the marketing of South Africa as a preferred tourist destination has announced the appointment of Evelyn Mahlaba as Regional Director for Africa.
Mahlaba’s primary responsibility is to oversee both the strategy and operational implementation of South Africa’s destination marketing work in various key markets in both East, West and Central Africa.

ALL AFRICA MUSIC AWARDS, AFRIMA RECORDS HIGH NUMBER OF ENTRIES


 
Following an overwhelming flood of entries in the past two months, the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) has finally closed submission of entry for its maiden edition. Activities recorded in this part of organising AFRIMA recorded an impressive participation as a total of two thousand and twenty five entries (2,025) were received at the close of the submission.

Oyo PDP law-makers tighten moves To Unseat Governor In Oyo State


The fear of the possible impeachment of Governor Abiola Ajimobi heightened last week with a series of secret political moves by members of the state House of Assembly.

Source told correspondents in confidence that, at least, 24 House members had been meeting secretly and that more members were being wooed to join the group. He said 10 legislators from the APC had joined the 14 other legislators from the PDP and AP and that they were holding secret meetings on the modalities to impeach either the governor or the speaker, Monsurat Sumonu.

The Ojodu-Alagbole-Akute road closed almost three months ago by Chinese construction workers on the order of Ogun State government has been forcefully reopened.
ENCOMIUM Weekly gathered that the Ojodu-Alagbole-Akute bridge which serves over 30 communities in the area is now busy as motorists return to the route.
A source said a team of soldiers who allegedly stormed the road (last week) sacked the police and touts who had been extorting money from road users for them to directly access the bridge condoned off by construction workers.

Bomb blasts aimed at frustrating Jonathan’s achievements – Labaran Maku



Minister of Information, Labaran Maku has said that the timing of bomb blasts in the country coincide with major achievements of the Jonathan administration.

Maku said in an interview in Lagos that the terrorists were out to discredit the Goodluck Jonathan administration and it would be better for the media not to encourage them.
