The immediate past governor of Ogun State and founder, Kresta Laurel Limited, Otunba (Engr.) Gbenga Daniel was among those honoured as Fellows of the Institute of Directors (Nigeria) on Sunday evening.
The event was held at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Lekki.
Recipients at the annual 'Fellows' Investiture Evening' included Otunba (Dr.) Subomi Balogun and Alhaji (Dr.) Yusuf Maitama Sule who bagged Honourary Fellowship titles while Chief (Dr.) Mrs. Toyin Olakunri, Chief Philip Asiodu, Dr. Felix Ohiwerei, Ms. Benedikter China Molokwu and Chief (Dr.) Olusegun Osunkeye were honoured as Distinguished Fellows among other notable personalities.
The titles were conferred by the President and Chairman of Governing Council of the Institute, Mr. Samuel Yemi Akeju.
According to the Chairman Fellows' Award Committe, Ms. Benedicter Molokwu, the recipients were chosen under very strict eligibility criteria based on exemplary leadership qualities and outstanding performance in their fields.
In his response on behalf of others so honoured, Otunba Daniel commended the Institute for the annual event and expressed his confidence in the Nigerian business leaders most of who have brought honours to the country. In his words: "Nigeria is blessed with experienced and visionary and if the private sector gets it right, the public sector will surely fall in line".
The Institute of Directors Nigeria is a prime leadership forum in the organised private sectors that represent directors and business leaders in their indiviual capacities. Annually, the Institute of Directors Nigeria confers fellowship status on deserving members who have served the Institute in varying capacities while making notable contribution to the business community.
It will be recalled that Otunba Gbenga Daniel was in August elected the President of Nigeria/Finland Business Council.
