The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi ,Ojaja II, has called for a more united Yoruba race, saying God is unhappy the race is disunited. 

The monarch disclosed on Thursday 14th January 2016 while playing host to the members of Yoruba Unity Forum ,YUF, led by its vice chairman, Reverend Emmanuel Bolanle Gbonigi, at his Ile Oodua palace.

The Anti-Corruption crusade of the President Mohammadu Buhari administration is a welcome development, but can only be meaningful only if it follows the rule of law and not as a system of persecuting imaginary opponents of the government.

This view was expressed last Wednesday by the National Co-coordinator of the Oodu'a Peoples Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams in Abeokuta during an Interactive session with members of the organisation.

Woman docked for allegedly defrauding friend of N10m


 A 30-year-old woman, who allegedly defrauded her friend of N10 million and threatened to kill her, was on Wednesday charged at a Tinubu Magistrates' Court in Lagos.
The accused, Sandra Duru-Eluobi, of no fixed address, is facing a two-count charge of fraud and threat to life.

Thousands troop to UI as Adeboye hosts RCCG service


 


Thousands of worshippers from within and outside Oyo State on Wednesday evening trooped to the University of Ibadan for a special Holy Ghost Service organised by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
Although the forum was a special service for students on all campuses in the state, it was attended by residents and non-residents of the state alike.

The blessed town and blessed people of Azia now have a new king and traditional ruler. His name is His Royal Highness, Prof. Titus Iloduba Eze, former Provost, Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze, Anambra State and one-time Federal INEC and ANSIEC Commissioner.
The newly installed Igwe of Azia, in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra, prior to ascending the throne of his fore fathers, was the Onowu (Traditional Prime Minister) of the town and a Professor at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. His predecessor, Igwe P.M.C Ojuro, passed on sometime ago after over three decades on the throne.

Nigerian Army Establishes New Division in Borno and Another in South-South



The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai has announced the establishment of the Nigerian Army 8 Division located in the northern part of Borno.
Buratai disclosed this while delivering a lecture titled `Nigerian Army: Challenges and Future Perspectives’, at the National Defence College, Abuja.

Welfare of Troops Paramount- Ambassador Sheni



The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Ambassador Danjuma Sheni has reiterated that the welfare of troops remains paramount and all necessary due process would be followed to achieve this.

Ambassador Sheni disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja. He said he was in the Defence Headquarters to boost the morale of the military personnel and to get acquitted with the Chief of Defence Staff and the Principal Staff Officers.

Paramilitary Personnel for Deployment in Liberated Towns- Dambazau



The Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahaman Dambazau has confirmed the planned redeployment of Police and Paramilitary personnel to liberated towns in the North-East.

Dambazza who led some heads of the security agencies on assessment visit to Maiduguri said the government is desirous of ensuring adequate security protections of liberated towns for safety of the citizens.

OPC HOLDS 2016 THANKSGIVING SERVICE





The National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and Chief Promoter of Olokun Festival Foundation (OFF), Otunba Gani Adams, has urged members of the organisation to rely more on the power and support God, emphasising that God's power is the ultimate.
Adams made the call yesterday during the annual Thanksgiving service for the organisation, held at the prestigious Ettal Hotel and Suit, Oregon, Lagos.

Fayose:Court remands fake NSA officers for alleged attempt to dupe Ekiti Governor



 An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded three men Abdulsalam Hassan, 30, Ola Benedict, 33 and Edwin Ote, 33, for alleged attempt to defraud Ekiti governor, Ayodele Fayose.
The accused persons were alleged to have unlawfully presented themselves as officers of the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) with intent to defraud the governor.

It will be recalled that based on petitions and allegations of unprofessional and partisan conducts of some officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army during the 2015 General elections, Ekiti and Osun States Gubernatorial elections last year, the Nigerian Army set up a high powered Board of Inquiry. The Board after a thorough job had today, Monday 11th January 2016, submitted its report to the Chief of Army Staff at the Army Headquarters, Abuja.

Ekiti LG to cultivate 20,000 hectares of maize, cassava


 


The Ikole Local Government Council in Ekiti state says it has concluded plans to cultivate about 20,000 hectares of maize and cassava during the forthcoming farming season.
The council’s Vice-Chairman, Alhaji Azeez Olasoji, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ikole-Ekiti on Monday.

Fashola unfolds 13-point agenda to revive power sector.




 The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, on Monday unfolded a 13-point agenda to drive efforts towards enhancing power supply in the country.
Fashola said in Abuja during his maiden meeting with power generation, distribution and transmission companies, and other stakeholders that the agenda was drawn up to ensure effective monitoring of the sector.
The minister said the agenda involves continuous public engagement on tariff collection, debts, power generation, maintenance, ancillary services, dispatch orders and discipline.
Others areas include gas requirement and constraints, transmission constraints, 33KV load offtake, imbalances-locations of excess, overload safety, service quality, new captive and embedded generation, franchising and other issues relevant to the growth of the sector.
According to Fashola, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved that all stakeholders in the sector should hold monthly meetings on issues concerning the industry. 
He said that the meeting would be rotated among the various GENCOs, DISCOs, TCN and other stakeholders across the country.
Fashola said that all decisions reached in such meetings would be binding on all the stakeholders.
In this respect, the minister stated that the various companies and stakeholders would each be represented by a management member with authority to take decision on behalf of their companies.
He explained that in order to minimise the cost of hosting the meetings, the companies were advised to jointly pull up resources required to hold the meetings. 
The minister further said the meetings would also involve lawyers, engineers, planners and other stakeholders, adding that
the ministry would issue a communiqué at the end of each meeting on steps taken to address challenges in the sector.

Bayelsa: Accept defeat, political parties tell Sylva


 Some of the political parties that contested the Bayelsa governorship election have urged for Bayelsa Gov. Timipre Sylva, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate to accept defeat.
Mr Prince Elema, the Chairman of the political parties, gave the advice during a news conference organised by the parties in Yenagoa on Monday.
The political parties include Kowa Party, All Progressives Ground Alliance (APGA), United Peoples Party (UPP), and ID Party, among others.
