In line with the ongoing statewide “Operation Light up Lagos” project, the Lagos State Government has completed the illumination of the Third Mainland Bridge.
This Lagos initiative begins from the Ojodu Berger section of the bridge and covers the entire sections of the bridge.
According to a statement signed by Steve Ayorinde, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, the Third Mainland Bridge constitutes an important segment of the road network in the state, as such, the state Government cannot overlook its importance as it also serves as a connecting point to the high brow economic pot of the state.

TAX AGENCY DIRECTOR ARRESTED FOR BRIBERY AND TAX FRAUD



The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested Abumere Joseph Osagie,  deputy director, regional tax office, Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, in a case of abuse of office and bribery.

The suspect was picked following a complaint about his attempt to extort a University proprietor N5million.

The remains of former Inspector General of Police, Chief Sunday Adewusi, arrived Ogbomoso aboard a military aircraft today.
The former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala, led thousands of mourners that received the body of the late Asiwaju Of Ogbomoso,Chief Sunday Adewusi, whose body arrived from Abuja ahead of a state funeral and burial which will be announced by the family soon.
The body was received by the son of the deceased, Mr Remi Adewusi and deposited in the Bowen University Teaching Hospital Morgue. According to him, the burial arrangement will be announced soon.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, January 28, 2016 arraigned the duo of Aku Ben Aku and Philips James Aliku alongside their company, Al-Aminu Oil and Gas Limited, before Justice Sulaiman Aliyu Tukur  of the High Court of Kaduna State, Kaduna on a five -count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N14, 602, 600.00 (Fourteen Million, Six Hundred and Two Thousand, Six Hundred Naira).

NAFDAC seals Cosmetics Company in Enugu


Officials of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), have sealed Kelv-Chem Cosmetics Industry in Enugu for not registering with the agency.
The State Coordinator of the Agency, Mr Ikechukwu Okoye made the disclosure on Thursday while briefing newsmen in Enugu.
He said that when the enforcement team from the agency visited the site of the company at Abakpa Nike, it discovered that the products manufactured by the company were fake.

The  judgment overrules the judgement of the Appeal Court which upheld the nullification of his election by the Election Petition Tribunal.

Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 varied the bail conditions for the embattled National publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh.

After his arrest on January 5, 2016 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Metuh was arraigned on a 7-count charge for allegedly receiving N400million  (four hundred million naira) from former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd), who is also being tried for laundering $2.1 billion.

FORMER Inspector General of Police, Chief Sunday Adewusi, on Tuesday, died around 8.30 p.m. at the National Hospital, Area 11, Abuja.
Adewusi, the Asiwaju of Ogbomoso, born on December 6, 1936, succeeded Adamu Suleiman as the Inspector General of Police between 1981 and 1983.
According to the former governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, who confirmed his death, the late police chief was a gallant offcier who served Nigeria with commitment and dedication.
