Aluyi Victor, Portfolio Manager of Elixir Investment Partners Limited, a brokerage firm, testifying at the on-going trial of a former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, and his Commissioner of Finance, Omadachi Okolobia, on March 2, 2016 told Justice A. R. Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Abuja, that the company was given oral instruction to sell shares belonging to the state.

According to him, sales of the Benue State-owned shares yielded N9,411,078,000.61.

A spokesperson for the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) said: “We are at an early stage of reviewing the claims made by the Bille and Ogale communities.  Both Bille and Ogale are areas heavily impacted by crude oil theft, pipeline sabotage and illegal refining which remain the main sources of pollution across the Niger Delta.  Ogale is in Ogoniland and it is important to note that SPDC has produced no oil or gas in Ogoniland since 1993.  Access to the area has been limited following a rise in violence, threats to staff and attacks on facilities.

Nigeria and Turkish Red Cross Parner on Humanitarian Relief



The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) and the Turkish Red Crescent (TRC) have entered a partnership on humanitarian relief services geared towards developmental projects that will bring about the development of Nigeria.

The NRCS and TRC signed an MoU aimed at jumpstarting this partnership.

The FRCN in December won four of the five awards at the recently concluded Nigeria Media Merit Award, for the first time in history.
Of these categories, the federal government owned radio station won the Radio of the Year, a feat which came as a pleasant surprise to staff of the station and Nigerians at large. One of the criteria for the award was based on the stations dynamic coverage of the 2 015 elections. Other categories won by the station include, Best Presenter, Best Producer and Best Reporter of the year.

Obasanjo's Son Involved In Ghastly Auto Crash





SON of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and two others, were, on Sunday, rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, after they were involved in motor accident along Ibadan-Abeokuta road.

Sources said they were coming from a birthday party in Ilesa, Osun State, when they had a burst tyre.

The trio, who were on admission at the private suite of the hospital, were initially attended to at the hospital’s accident and emergency unit, on Sunday.


Obasanjo’s son, who was reportedly registered at the hospital as Aremu Obasanjo, is said to be treated by neuro surgeons.

Hospital sources said he was still alive as he was seen early today (Monday) on a wheel chair on his way to have an x-ray done at the hospital’s accident and emergency unit.

Efforts to confirm the detail of the incident from hospital management proved abortive.

However, the hospital’s Chief Information Officer, Mr Ayodeji Bobade, on phone only confirmed that “there is one young Aremu Obasanjo on admission at the hospital.”

N2.3bn Scam: Court Admits More Exhibits Against Akpobolokemi, Others



A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, on Tuesday, admitted more exhibits against a former Director- General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Mr. Patrick Akpobolokemi and five others. 

Akpobolokemi is standing trial, alongside five others,  on a 13- count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and fraudulent conversion of funds, to the tune of N687, 294, 680 (Six Hundred and Eighty Seven Million, Two Hundred and  Ninety Four Thousand, Six Hundred and Eighty Naira). His co-accused persons are:

N2bn Fraud: Twist as Judge Returns Oronsaye's Case File



The N2bn fraud case involving a former Head of Service, HoS, to the Federation, Stephen Oronsaye, would have to start de novo as the presiding judge, Justice J. T. Tsoho, has said he has been “instructed” to return the case file to Justice Gabriel Kolawole, who was initially assigned the case in July 2015.

Oronsaye is being prosecuted at the Federal High Court, Abuja, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on offences bordering on stealing and obtaining money by false pretence. He is alleged to have been complicit in several contract awards during his tenure as HoS, and is being charged along with Osarenkhoe Afe on an amended 35-count charge.

Fraudster Bags Seven Years Jail Term




The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday February 29, secured the conviction of one Mfon Obot Essien (alias David Morris, Femi James) at the Lagos State High Court, Igbosere.  


Justice R. A. Adebiyi convicted Essein on all the Six count charge preferred against him by the EFCC and sentenced him accordingly.

The convict was sentenced to seven years imprisonment for attempting to defraud the family of one  Shaliseon Warren by claiming that their daughter Shaliseon was kidnapped and the kidnappers were demanding a ransom of $7,000 USD.

Mr Latin’s wife Ronke Amusan last week turned 40-years and had her birthday thanksgiving service at a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), in Dublin on Sunday.

NIGERIAN ARMY INDUCTS COMBAT MOTORBIKE BATTALION INTO BATTLE
