2 RAMS ARRESTED FOR ATTACKING WOMAN IN EKITI STATE


A 65 years old woman popularly called ‘Iya Oyo’ has been hospitalized having been attacked by two rams in Ado Ekiti, a development that led to the arrest of the rams by the police.The strange rams are said to be owned by a manager of a filling station at Okesa area of the state capital.

Popular musician Omawumi has finally tied the knots with the father of her three year old daughter. BOKO HARAM EVADES KAYAMULA VILLAGE NEAR MAIDUGURI


In less than 24 hours after President Goodluck Jonathan's visit to Maiduguri, Bornu State, boko haram militants evaded Kayamula village near Maiduguri, killing several villagers and burnt down many homes as well as shops. Some residents, that fled the scene of the attack, said they received  advance notice that Boko Haram militants were headed to the village and passed the information to the army but nothing was done to protect the village.

The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye spoke in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, during a two-day interdenominational prayer. He said;

The 2015 Lagos State Gubernatorial debate held yesterday at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, Oba Akinjobi Way, GRA in Ikeja, with 17 governorship candidates of various parties in attendance.

The debate which was organised by the Anglican Communion, Diocese of Lagos West in collaboration with the Diocese of Badagry and Mainland witnessed a lot of dramas as some candidates mounted the podium telling attentive listeners how they were unprepared for the debate because they were informed late.

It was with high expectations that I went gone through details of the Abuja peace accord recently agreed by the political party leaders, mandating decent and civilized campaign conduct among the contestants, their agents and supporters. I was not disappointed. It is a positive step in the direction of democracy, for which I must commend the efforts of those seasoned interventionists, Emeka Anyaoku and Kofi Annan. Adhered to with good will and sincerity, it should  ensure a wholesome space for future elections, and pre-empt further  violence. It might even come close to what the democratic ideal should be, as canvassed by others, including Governor Fashola a few years ago – a people’s fiests!

BIRD FLU IS BACK IN NIGERIA!!!


The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has announced new cases of Avian Influenza otherwise known as Bird flu in Nigeria. Avian influenza is an infectious disease affiliated to birds only.

In a statement released yesterday January 15th, the ministry said that there has been an increasing number of deaths of poultry animals in two poultry farms and live bird markets in Lagos and Kano.

The Former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, has publicly denounced President Goodluck Jonathan as his brother .He said this was because the President not only failed to develop the Niger Delta region,but denied him all the love, care and protection expected from a brother.

ELECTION MAY NOT BE CONDUCTED IN SOME NORTHERN STATES- INEC CHAIRMAN


The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega made it known at a forum today in Abuja that some troubled northern states such as Borno, Yobe and Adamawa may not participate in the elections due to the emergency rule going on in the states.

"A place like Borno state, unless something is done about those that have been displaced, even the time of the governorship election may be very very difficult, if not impossible under the circumstances. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Goodluck Jonathan met on Monday at Obasanjo’s mansion  on Presidential Hilltop Estate, Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
Sources close to the Obasanjo home said the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye and founder of Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, were at the meeting at the instance of the former President as one of conditions given by Obasanjo before any meeting with Jonathan could take place .

A new Managing Director has been appointed for The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd (SPDC). He is Osagie Okunbor, and takes over from Mutiu Sunmonu who is retiring after 36 years of service. Mr. Okunbor has also been named the Country Chair of Shell Companies in Nigeria, combining the two positions as his predecessor did. Mr. Okunbor is the third Nigerian to hold both posts.

BUHARI CONDEMNS BURNING OF PDP'S CAMPAIGN BUS


The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, has condemned the burning and destruction of the campaign buses of President Goodluck Jonathan, in Jos, Plateau.
Earlier today, violence erupted in Jos, as some youths burned vehicles belonging to the president’s campaign.
Buhari, who is in Anambra on his campaign tour, took to Twitter to denounce the violence, while also telling his supporters that “elections are not war”.
