Borno State Deputy Governor Is Dead
The deputy governor of Borno State, Zannah Mustapha died in Yola, Adamawa state this morning during an official trip to the state. Mustapha, who had gone to Yola yesterday to attend the convocation ceremony at Moddibo Adama University, retired to his room last night and failed to wake up this morning. He'd died in his sleep at a government guest house in the state capital.
Drama At Ooni Palace As Wives,Children Barred From Burial
The final burial rites of the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II, was performed on Friday, but his wives, children and family members were unable to pay their last respects as they were barred from the programme.
Some people who had expected to see the body of the monarch lie in state were disappointed as his remains were neither brought out for people to see nor was any casket displayed during the burial service.

Ooni Of Ife To Be Laid To Rest On Friday, 13th August
Adetokunbo Sijuwade, the son of the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, on Wednesday officially announced the death of the monarch, saying he would be buried on Friday.
While addressing journalists at the Government Office in Osogbo, the late monarch’s son said the body of his father would be flown in from London today, Thursday, 13th of August and buried tomorrow, Friday at 10 a.m. How about the abobaku?

One of Nigeria’s most popular actors, Segun Arinze, has been appointed artistic director of the Best of Nollywood Awards 2015 holding in Akure, the Ondo State capital in December 2015.

NEMA moves 5, 762 to IDPs camps in Yola
Seven new births were recorded at the Mubi transit camp of the Nigerian returnees from the Republic of Cameroun as 5,762 returnees have been transported by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to the Internally Displaced camps in Yola, Adamawa State.

In its efforts to prevent young Nigerians from being lured into terrorism, prostitution, slavery and other untoward activities abroad by unscrupulous individuals, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has continued to be stringent in scrutinising those intending to travel out of the country.
PRNigeria gathered that in the fifteen months period running from January 2014 to March 2015, the Service debarred a total of 23,472 individuals from travelling out of the country from the various departure points.

Buhari To Head Petroleum Ministry For 18months
President Muhammadu Buhari is set to head the Ministry of Petroleum for 18 months before appointing a substantive minister for the ministry.
The President said this while meeting with some members of his political party, the All Progressives Congress, in Abuja recently.
One of those at the meeting, who spoke on condition of anonymity, on Sunday said that the President said he would use the 18 months of heading the petroleum ministry to reposition it.

The Ife traditional council in Osun State has officially confirmed the death of the Ooni of Ife, Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II, after denying that the monarch had passed away.
The Awara of Iwara-Ife, Layi Adereti, made this known in Ife while speaking on the preparation for the burial of the Ooni, who died at Saint Mary Hospital in London about two weeks ago.
