Ranti Akerele, Former Commissioner Of Information In Ondo State, Has Died

A former Commissioner for Information in Ondo State, Mr Ranti Akerele is dead.
Akerele  died in the early hours of today.

A family source told Saharareporters by phone that the Ido-Ani born information manager died in his sleep.
The source said " We have lost him. He slept off yesterday and did not wake up. He played and even watched the news on the television through-out yesterday before going to bed."
A close friend and doctor to the deceased who also confirmed the news to Saharareporters said the ex-commissioner was sighted at the hospital yesterday.
"I saw him with a patient at the hospital yesterday morning, he appeared  hale and hearty when I saw him. He told me he brought a patient to our hospital. That was the last word I heard before he departed. It is a pity Ranti is gone" he said.
Akerele was removed  from office by Governor Olusegun Mimiko at the beginning of his second term in office.
He was a former broadcaster with the Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC) before joining politics to become the State Publicity secretary of the Labour Party.
The deceased was also a pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG)in Ondo state.
He was 54 years old.
