The countries bidding to host this prestigious event are Nigeria, South Africa, Namibia, Gabon, and Kenya. These are countries that were shortlisted from pool of 14 countries who passionately showed interests. The first phase of the screening exercise started at Hilton hotel Windhoek, Namibia last year.
The AFRIMA is a combined effort to promote the rich African music worldwide, thus reaching out to the millions of fans, and propelling African music to glorious pinnacles beyond the borders of Africa.
Regional Directors/Representatives are expected at in Lagos from different African regional head offices like Ghana, Kenya, DR Congo, Cameroun, Benin Republic, South Africa, Namibia, Tunisia and Nigeria. Entertainment Gurus will be present at the conference as well as international journalists.
Following the rigorous assessment and reccee of venues in different African countries bidding to host AFRIMA from 2014 to 2018, the roundtable conference will seek to announce the winner of the host country for AFRIMA.
According to the brand communication and Sponsorship director of Afrima, Matlou Tsotetsi, ‘’The idea of AFRIMA is to promote, showcase and celebrate African music to the largely untapped international population and of course in Africa itself. Furthermore the awards aim to promote unity and peace in Africa – music is a universal language that is well understood and equally appreciated in Africa. So, all eyes on Sunday, October 6, 2013 for the winner of the hosting right for the next five years”
The event which is centered around the promotion and marketing of African music is by far the largest gathering of such magnitude and hosting is earnestly sought by different African countries due to the great leveraging opportunities that the platform provides.
