An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded three men Abdulsalam Hassan, 30, Ola Benedict, 33 and Edwin Ote, 33, for alleged attempt to defraud Ekiti governor, Ayodele Fayose.
The accused persons were alleged to have unlawfully presented themselves as officers of the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) with intent to defraud the governor.

They were also alleged to have unlawfully forged the letter head paper of the ``Nigeria Armed Forces’’ on which they wrote the letter they presented to the governor.
The accused persons were charged with impersonation, conspiracy, an attempt to defraud and obtaining under false pretence in contravention of Sections 509 of the Criminal Code Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti state, 2012.
The Chief Magistrate, Idowu Ayenimo remanded the accused persons in prison custody pending an outcome of advise from the office of the State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP)
The Police Prosecutor, Mr Bankole Olasunkanmi had told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 9 in Afao-Ekiti.
Olasunkanmi said that he had sent the case file to the office of the DPP for legal advice.
He said he brought the accused persons to the court to secure their lawful detention pending the outcome of the legal advice.
Consequently, the plea of the accused persons was not taken.
Counsel to the accused persons, Mr Sunday Ochai, urged the court to adjourn the case pending the outcome of the DPP legal advice.
Ayenimo adjourned the case till Feb. 5 for further hearing.
