As the 2018 Governorship Election draws nearer in Ekiti State, a frontline aspirant in the race, Akogun Banji Ojo has declared his interest for the sole ticket of the Labour Party in a view of contesting the gubernatorial election.

Ojo said contesting under the Labour Party and winning the election would lead to total economic emancipation of the people of the state.
He made this declaration while meeting with stakeholders in the Project Ekiti which gave him the opportunity to speak on his ambition and the need for the people of Ekiti state to shun money politics which has brought the state to the back seat in the comity of states.
Banji Ojo,who hails from the Ayegbaju-Ekiti in Oye Local government area of the state is a successful businessman and a prominent politician based in Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
While speaking to newsnaijaonline, Ojo said the state Governor has reneged on his promise of taking Ekiti state out of the doldrums and that the people of Ekiti state were tired of the incumbent government which in recent times has become increasingly autocratic. He also promised to make himself available through the Labour Party in the quest to rescue the state which has been plunged into debts.
His words: ‘’I have watched closely as events unfold in Ekiti state, and have yielded to the plights of the people to contest the forthcoming governorship election in the state. As we all know that the people are suffering in silence and need a visionary leader to rescue them from the PDP –led government in the state. The only option now is the Labour Party which is the only progressive party in Nigeria and i want to reiterate my commitment to winning the next governorship election under the platform of the Labour Party with the support of stakeholders in the state.’’
He harped on the need for the electorates and party leaders to shun money politics saying distribution of food stuffs would not take the state out of the economic hardship adding that it is only the Labour Party that can salvage the state from its present predicament.
