TROOPS AVERT ANOTHER CATASTROPHE
Troops of 7 Division Garrison Forward Operation Base (FOB), today averted yet another suicide bombing catastrophe on Ummarari community by suspected Boko Haram terrorist at about 7.00am this morning.
The suicide bomber was intercepted by the vigilant troops and the Civilian JTF while making attempt to enter the village to detonate his dangerous cargo on innocent persons in the Ummarari.
The suicide bomber detonated the strapped Improvised Explosive Device (IED) vest on his body, thus killing himself instantly when he was forced to halt based on suspicion that he was carrying suicide bombing material.
Thankfully, there was no any other casualty other than the suspected suicide bomber. Troops along with the Civilian JTF at the village are now combing the surrounding area to forestall further attacks and clear the environment of likely remnants of Boko Haram terrorists hibernating.
Meet Socialite Wale Saranda's Beautiful Wife Chief Mrs Asabi Adesina
CULTURAL HERITAGE IS MY IDENTITY - Chief Mrs. Asabi Adesina
Chief Adewale Adesina (Wale Saranda) & Chief Mrs. Asabi Adesina |
I was born into the family of Late Chief Ayodele Falowo and Ibironke Falowo from Ijebu-Ode. My daddy is from Ondo state and my mummy is from a royal home in Ijebu- Ode. I was born and raised in Ijebu- Ode, schooled in Ijebu-Ode and Abeokuta, and then I went further for my Masters Degree in University of Lagos, Lagos State.
How did you meet your husband?
I met my husband 27 years ago when I went to visit my sister, when I got there; I met him in the living room chatting with my sister's husband. After a while, my sister's husband came to me and said
someone wants to meet me. We started dating officially in 1993.
Being a mother and a housewife, what are the lessons you've learnt?
The elders usually say 'Ile Oko Ile Eko Ni' meaning 'the husband’s house is a place where you attain knowledge'. When we were younger we always wanted to go out, go to places and have fun but when you get married, it’s a different ball game entirely. Being a housewife has taught me so much and I can say I am a brilliant student in that class, motherhood has taught me so much because I have learnt to be
tolerant and prayerful.
How do you spend time with your family?
I usually love to spend quality time with my family, sometimes I will decide not to go out but spend time with my family, and to avoid disturbances I always tell my Security man that I don’t want any visitors except on my orders, and sometimes we can decide to go to the Beach or Cinemas, and if we don’t want to go out we just stay indoors and have fun as a family.
Kindly tell us some of the traditional tittles you hold and others that are still coming?
If I decide to take count of my titles I might lose count because there are so many titles. In my husband's town in Yewa, we earned Olu-Omo and I was called Yeye Olu-Omo. In Itori-Land, I earned Yeye-Oge, my husband is Tayeshe and I was given Yeye-Tayeshe, my husband is also the Bashorun of Isele Kingdom.
I am also the Iya-Oba of Aga-Olowo, Yeye Okanlomo of Igo-Okoto and so on. Now I am on the verge of getting another from our amiable King, Oba Alayeluwa his Royal Highness Oba Kehinde Olugbenle who wants to bestow on me the Yeye Mesho of Ilaro and Yewa-Land.
How did you know about the Yeye Mesho title?
Last year, they brought a letter to us, but before that, my husband had gone to meet with the king so when they brought the letter, my husband told me that they want to give me a title and I asked which
kind of title it was, then they told me the king wanted to see me so my husband and I travelled to see the king in his palace, there he told me he wanted to give me YeyeMesho of Ilaro and Yewa-Land, it is
said that 'the king has the final say' so there was nothing I could do than to accept.
What do you think prompted the King to bestow this title on you?
I think I was giving this title based on what my husband has done or given to the society, because he is a man of noble character and as well as a philanthropist, he has also contributed immensely to the growth of Ilaro and Yewa and of course Ogun state in general. With my husband being a Chief with many titles which include Babalaje of Ilaro, and Babaloja of Yewa-Land, couple with the fact that I always
represent our cultural identity in my appearance are the reasons I got the title.
As the Yeye Mesho, what are those roles you're to undertake?
What they saw in me before giving me this title as I said earlier must have been my dressing because I love putting on traditional wears, and being the Yeye Mesho I won’t stop doing my thing. I will even engross myself more in our cultural heritage so that our people would imitate me to promote our culture.
Have you ever had to turn down a party?
No, except I am not feeling too good or out of the country. My husband is next in command to the king, so being the highest title holder's wife, people expect us to grace their events so as to show our love
for them, that is why I usually grace events to represent my husband whenever he is not available. I don’t miss a party except on rare occasions.
How do you maintain your beauty despite having four kids?
Thanks for the comment, I maintain this beauty by the grace of God, I don’t use max soap on my face and neither do I use harsh cream on my body. I must say making up is not a daily affair for me but I do
make-up whenever I have an important function to attend, I also sleep a lot.
Have you ever had any difficulty in your roles as a wife and a mother?
Yes I have, but it takes the grace and wisdom of God to choose right. I always have to comply with daddy's needs first, because he is the first baby of the house, you know, I knew him before the kids came, so I attend to his needs first.
Most cherished fashion item?
My shoes, I love shoes so much and I love it high and colourful, sometimes I would have to put two or more shoes in my bag or Car when I go out for a function because I would want to change into another
when I am at the function.
What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion means simplicity and 'fabulocity' to me. To me, you don’t need to be overdressed, just keep it simple, but make sure you wear the right dresses of perfect colour combinations and look good.
Tell us about your husband?
He is the love of my life, the reason for my smiles and excitement, he is a man who has contributed immensely to the growth of Ogun State, a businessman who is into Quarry/Granite business and also his love for his family is immeasurable, he is that man that every woman would pray to have as a husband. He is a rare gift from heaven.
My daughter is a very good dancer, so we do all the dancing steps in the house because she teaches me how to dance.
If you're given the opportunity to choose another husband, who will that be?
Wale Saranda, I will choose him over and over again.
Who are your bosom friends?
I have a lot of bosom friends that we talk every day and we see ourselves weekly, though we might be far from one another but we connect with each other. A few of them are; OLORI BARAKAT OLABISI AKAMO, ERELU AFOLASHADE ANIMASHAUN and SERIKI GBEGBAOJA OF EGBALAND. They are all
my friends.
Your advice for the single ladies?
They should keep calm, because all that glitters is not gold. They should pray to God to guide them through the process of choosing a life partner, from my experience, the wedding is just a day while marriage is a lifetime commitment.

TROOPS ARREST FOUR BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS KINGPINS
Troops of 3 Battalion, of 22 Task Force Brigade have made an unprecedented catch with the arrest of 4 Boko Haram terrorists Ameers (kingpins) at Rann, headquarters of Kala Balge Local Government Area today, Friday 22nd April 2016. The arrested kingpins specialized on various aspects of criminality to sustain the Boko Haram terrorists group in their areas.
The four terrorists were arrested following a tip off by well meaning members of the public.
Subsequently, the troops conducted a cordon and search operation in the general area that led to the apprehension of the terrorist leaders, who contribute to the sustenance of the insurgency through their illegal trade specialization.
The arrested kingpins include Umara Mai Gyaran Rediyo (Radio Technician), Umaru Mai Nama, (who specialize in cattle rustling and sales), Alifa Makinta (a specialist on stealing foodstuffs) and Balu Jugudum (in charge of stolen jewelleries).
Presently the suspects are undergoing interrogation.
FG ALLAYS FEAR OF POWER TRANSMISSION DISRUPTION BY UNION
The attention of the Federal Ministry of Power, Works & Housing has been drawn to reports that the leadership of National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), has issued instructions to its Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), members to stay away from their duty posts. The reports have understandably led to fears of a nation-wide blackout, as has also been reported.
The Ministry, after consulting the management of TCN, wishes to state in clear terms that it is not aware of any declaration of industrial dispute by NUEE, nor any lawful notice of strike action against TCN. Therefore no staff of TCN has any legitimate cause to absent him or herself from duty.
The Ministry is fully aware that the Nigeria Police initiated heightened security measures at the PHCN Headquarters building at 14, Zambezi Crescent Maitama, which is also the head office of TCN. The heightened security became necessary as a result of a series of security breaches in the building by persons who claimed to be carrying out the instructions of NUEE, some of whom were not identified by TCN as their staff. The most recent incident was targeted at officers of the Nigeria Police Force who were in the building on official assignments, and accompanied by officials of the Ministry.
The heightened security measures are not meant to lock out any official of TCN or any member of the public who has legitimate business with TCN. The NPF put the measures in place to protect Federal Government facilities and operations. The measures are also meant to ensure the building is accessible only to persons who are authorized to be in the building by TCN or the Ministry. The measures were put in place by NPF to secure a safe working environment for all TCN and Ministry staff in the building, including any staff of TCN who happens to be NUEE member.
The Ministry has confirmed from TCN that appropriate contingencies are being put in place to safeguard the national grid to avert any unnecessary inconvenience and suffering for its customers and the Nigerian public.
The Ministry has also confirmed from TCN that any member of staff who absents him or herself from work without a legitimate reason should be prepared to forego any compensation for the period of such absence and to face the disciplinary processes that govern his or her employment contract with TCN.
N29bn Fraud: Court Adjourns Nyako’s Trial to May 6
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, April 22, 2016 presented its fifth witness in the ongoing trial of a former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, his son, Senator Abdul-Aziz Nyako, Abubakar Aliyu and Zulkifikk Abba.
Nyako and the others are standing trial before Justice E. Chukwu of the Federal High Court, Abuja in a 37-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, stealing, abuse of office and money laundering to the tune of N29 billion preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
They are alleged to have at various times between 2011 and 2013, used five companies – Blue Opal Nigeria limited, Serore Farms & Extension Limited, Pagoda Fortunes Limited, Towers Assets Management Limited and Crust Energy Limited to commit the fraud.
The prosecution through its counsel, Adebisi Adeniyi and Leke Atolagbe, sought to present more exhibits against the defendants through the witness, Celestine Idiaye, Cluster Control Manager, Internal Control Unit, of Diamond Bank, Garki branch, Abuja.
Idiaye, who was led in evidence by Atolagbe, told the court that the bank received a letter from the EFCC dated September 23, 2014 requesting for account opening documents and statement of account in respect of Sentinel Exploration and Production Limited, a company linked to Nyako.
“We responded with a letter dated September 30, 2014 and provided two statements of account, account opening documents and certificate of identification,” he said.
He added that at the time of producing the said documents, the bank’s computer systems “were in perfect condition and we compared them with what we have in our database and they were the same”.
The forwarding letter from the bank to which was attached the various documents, were presented in court, and were identified by Idiaye as the documents from Diamond Bank forwarded to the EFCC.
However, Y. C. Maikyau, SAN, counsel to Abubakar Aliyu, questioned the admissibility of the documents by the court. He told the court that while he had “no objection to the forwarding letter, the documents attached, which include photocopies were by their nature public documents that needed to be certified by the public officer who has custody of the original copies”. He argued that the photocopy of the international passport in the document ought to have been certified by an official of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, and the photocopy of the certificate of incorporation of the company ought to have been certified by an official of the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC.
“The requirements for certifying a pubic document according to Section 104 of the Evidence Act 2011 was not met as it relates to the cited documents,” Maikyau argued.
Ibrahim Isiyaku, SAN, counsel to the fourth and eight defendants, Olumide Olujimi, counsel to the fifth defendant, and O. A. Dada, counsel to the ninth defendant, all aligned themselves with the argument of Maikyau.
Responding, Adeniyi, argued that the points canvassed by the defence team was misplaced. “The position of the law is that documents attached to the letter, which has not been opposed to by the defence, must be admitted as a whole,” he said.
According to Adeniyi, “what we sought to tender through the witness was the letter sent to the EFCC from Diamond Bank, which has not been opposed to by the defence”.
He added that: “What we have before your lordship is a statement of account and we’re not in an era of ledger, and a statement of account is in its original form that was printed from the computer server.”
He, therefore, urged the court to “discountenance the objection and reject the attempt to sever the attached documents from the letter, which ought to be admitted as a whole”.
After listening to all the arguments, Justice Chukwu, thereafter adjourned till May 6, 2016 for ruling on the admissibility of the documents and continuation of trial.

Labour Party Scribe Berates Gov. Oshiomhole Over Supremacy Battle With State Assembly
The national secretary of labour party, Comrade (Barr.) Julius Abure
has slammed the Edo State Governor Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole over the
rift with the members of Edo State House of Assembly on battle of
supremacy as regards the power to dissolve local government councils
describing it as shameful and ''laughable.''
"The disagreement between governor adams oshiomhole and the House of
Assembly over tenure expiration of local government chairmen and
concillors is not only laughable but shows the hallowness of Edo state
government towards issues of development, rule of law, due process and
the principles of democracy.''
He berated Governor Adams Oshiomhole for not creating an enabling
environment for free, fair and credible local government elections in
Edo state before the expiration of the tenure of the dissolved local
government conuncil chairmens; stressing that it is unconstitutional.
"Section 7 (1) of the 1999 constitution as amended provides the system
of local Government by democratically Elected Local government
councils is under this Constitution guaranteed; and accordingly, the
Government of every state shall subject to section 8 of this
Constitution, ensure their existence under a law which provides for
the establishment, Structure, composition, finance and functions",
Barrister Julius said.
Comrade Julius regretted that Governor Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole who is a
product of due process, rule of Law and democratic ethos will overtly
or covertly subvert the wishes and aspirations of the people.
He however enjoined both the Governor and the legislature to quickly
address the concerns and sufferings of the people who are wallowing in
poverty, unemployment, fuel scarcity, etc rather than engaging in
undue fistcuts over who is constitutionally empowered to dissolve
local councils without giving premium to constitutional democracy of
electing people into the dissolved councils.

I have a Senator -By Bola Agboola
Duro Samuel Faseyi is the senator representing my senatorial district, Ekiti North Senatorial District. He is a PDP member I revere so much. He is from a very humble background, he suffered while growing up, he experienced lack and want, he knows the definition of lack and want, perhaps the reason he's been so voracious in liberating people from the shackles of poverty.
He was a member of the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2011 representing Ekiti North Federal Constituency II. He is one man that knows how to lobby for his people, he understands the politics of the National Assembly!
No doubt the National Assembly is a place where laws are made, Duro Faseyi has literally turned that place to where 'jobs' are manufactured. I mean jobs that empower and liberate people for life. Let me keep quiet here before enemies of progress in this administration attempts to stop the flow. We are now in the opposition.
One can point to more than a hundred that he 'liberated' as a HOR member between 2003 and 2011, I have friends amongst them. Friends that have become Men. Without mincing words, the Muhammadu Buhari is one with neither policy nor economic direction, yet within a year, my senator has started his wonders once again.
I was at Iludun yesterday, his hometown where he publicly appreciated his people, the people of Ekiti North Senatorial District(Ikole, Oye, Ilejemeje, Ido/Osi and Moba LGAs) with cars and other meaningful items. That's not where I am going. As I was moving up and down the empowerment venue in the scorching sun (trust me, that sun was not ordinary), I ran across a friend of mine who told me the reason I haven't been seeing him around is because Duro Faseyi recently helped him secure a FG job at XYZ agency.
I am not from Iludun, I am not from Ilejemeje LG but Duro has touched another of my friends' life. Beeni ti e ri..., that's his person! That's my definition of emancipation, that's my definition of Heroism! My definition of 'freedom' might be different from yours, this is politics, interests differ, so let me go back to the nitty-gritty of what happened at Iludun yesterday.
My senator came to his people with 10 cars, one of the cars has become 'talk of the town' in Ido Osi by reason of whom the beneficiary is. Duro came home with over 56 tricycles(they call it keke Duro), over 25 medium sized generators, over 25 motorcycles, hundreds of sewing machines, hundreds of grinding machines, tools for artisans including mechanic and tiler's tools(tiling is the new vocation in town), cutlasses and files for farmers, rainboots and thousands of reflective jackets for Okada riders.
Did I say something about bursary awards for undergraduates? Ohh, he did that too... Three undergraduates per ward were given 10k each across the 56 wards that constitute Ekiti North Senatorial District. Widows were taken care of, 5 per ward it was, SA Widow Empowerment to Governor Ayodele Fayose, Mrs. Funmiajayi Ogun Orin was there behind our mothers, God bless you. Our traditional rulers (across Ekiti North), 73 in all got their "Kolas", Local government party chairmen smiled even as each ward chairman got his due.
All these done, human needs remain insatiable, a lot is still left to be done, Senator Duro Faseyi don't seem to be oblivious of these facts, this is obvious from his welcome address when he said "I wish to congratulate beneficiaries in this edition and appeal that these items be used conscientiously for the betterment of themselves and their community. If I had my way, everybody will benefit, nonetheless, for those of you who did not make the list this time, you are not forgotten, another edition is around the corner".
That is a man who knows where the shoe pinches, a man who will continue to strive at putting smile on faces. Today is Friday 22nd day of April, 2016, in 2 days, precisely, Sunday 24th day of April, 2016, my senator, Duro Samuel Faseyi will be 60 years of age. I join millions of well wishers the world over to wish 'The Distinguished Senator' Happy Birthday, Long Life and Prosperity in Good Health and Sound mind.
