AGAIN, OLUBADAN OF IBADAN IS DEAD

OBA SAMUEL ODULANA ODUGADE I, OLUBADAN OF IBADAN
The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1, is dead.
The monarch, who attained the age of 100 years in 2014, passed away Tuesday evening after he reportedly lost consciousness.
The Nation reliably gathered last night that the monarch’s corpse has been taken to a morgue as at press time.

Other details about Oba Odulana’s death were sketchy as at press time.

Federal University Technology withdraws 460 students over poor academic performance



The Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna in Niger, has withdrawn 460 hundred level students following ``very poor’’ performance in the just-concluded academic session.


According to Mrs Lydia Legbo, Information Officer of the University, the students' performance was not acceptable, hence the decision to ask them to go.
She told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Tuesday that the institution could not violate the National Universities Commission (NUC)'s guidelines in respect of minimum standards.

Widows of Slain Soldiers Appeal to Wives of Service Chiefs



Widows of Nigerian soldiers who lost their lives while fighting Boko Haram terrorists, have called on wives of Service Chiefs to impress on their husbands and the government to intervene in prompts payment of salaries and allowances of their deceased husbands.

The widows made the appeals during a counselling and condolence visit by wives of service chiefs under the umbrella of Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA) in Maiduguri at the weekend.

The Lagos State Government on Saturday called on residents to remain calm over the outbreak of Lassa fever, just as it assured that it is doing everything possible to curtail the spread of the virus in the State.
Addressing journalists at the Alausa Secretariat, on the first case of the disease recorded in the State, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris said in line with international standards, 92 persons who had direct and indirect contact with the index case are currently being followed-up.
