Why We Suspend Buruji Kasamu and Others -Ogun PDP

This is to set the record straight as to why the Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party recommended the suspension of Senator Buruji Kasamu to the leadership of our party, and the National Caretaker committee under the leadership of Senator Ahmed Maikarfi.

Contrary to the avowed claims by Senator Kasamu as the sole financier of our great party, we need to clarify that several members of the PDP have contributed in no small measure to the development of the party as can be seen from the attached documents. But most importantly, to draw the attention of the public to the fact that Senator Buruji Kasamu in concert with the former chairman of the party, Mr. Bayo Dayo and some other members of his executive committee have turned the party's account into a fat cow, milking it as if it were some personal estate.

For instance, Mr. Bayo Dayo acting as agent of Senator Kasamu and using a secretarial staff in his office, Latifat Ahmed withdrew over two hundred million (N200m) Naira from the party's current account with the Zenith Bank (1012611004), Lalubu Road, Oke -Ilewo Abeokuta branch without specific and clearly stated purpose. Our investigations further revealed that these withdrawals were handed over to Senator Kasamu for no clearly defined purpose.

Apart from that, moneys paid into the party's account by well meaning, genuine and loyal members of the party were transferred variously into the account of Omo Ilu Foundation, a private concern of Senator Buruji Kasamu. We however wondered to what purpose all these transactions are aimed at. It is not on record that Omo Ilu Foundation is a contractor with the Peoples Democratic Party.
We equally discovered that most of the cheques purportedly written in the name of the Peoples Democratic Party from Omo Ilu Foundation were returned uncleared, yet no sooner than they are lodged, than some mysterious withdrawals were again carried out by the same Omo Ilu Foundation.

We have since reported this matter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for investigations, and the decision to suspend:
1. Senator Buruji Kasamu
2. Engr. Bayo Dayo
3. Chief Pegba Otemolu
4. Mr. Semiu Shodipo
5. Mr. Fatai Adeyanju
6. Mr. Segun Seriki
7. Hon. Daisi Akintan, and
8. Hon. Bowale Solaja were done in good faith in order to protect unsuspecting publics from further financial relationship with then on behalf Peoples Democratic Party pending the ratification by the national leadership of our great party.
Kindly find attached for your perusal.

Thanks.

Hon. Sikirulai Olawale Ogundele (State Chairman)
