Hellenic Orthodox Hall, 62 Fifth Street, Lower Houghton, Johannesburg , the venue of the official launching of the organization and presentation of staff of office to the coordinator Prince Adeniyi Olatunji, Coordinator was stormed by eminent Yoruba indigenes who resides in South Africa traditional rulers from Nigeria professionals among others .
The Chief convener Otunba Gani Adams in his welcome address said the OPU which was initiated few years ago was established to champion the course of promoting Yoruba and enhancing unity and progress among brothers in the Diaspora
“Yoruba people are everywhere and we consider it important to create a platform that will not only defend the integrity of Yoruba race in the diasporas but also enhance unity and progress of its members and this has been done in about 70 countries where OPU exists “
OPU is not about funfair, it is a forum of serious minded people who are determined to raise the glory of Yoruba race in deeds and character, and most importantly people who shares our vision and goals which is promoting Yoruba culture and tradition”
Otunba Adams also used the occasion to disregard information’s from the propaganda machinery of some former members of the OPC who are hell bent of damaging his credibility and that of organizations
While responding the South Africa Coordinator Prince Adeniyi assures the gathering that the chapter will work in accordance with the dictates of the organization as well as enhancing the promotion of Yoruba culture and tradition ‘
The events also features presentation of staff of office to the coordinator Prince Adeniyi, entertainment from Yoruba cultural truope in SA and others
