JONATHAN VS BUHARI- PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE COMES UP FEB 8
The voters in Nigeria might have a chance to see the leading candidates for the presidential election, Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, in action, as an alternative for the time and the venue for the debates has emerged.
According to ThisDay, the presidential debate is scheduled for February 3, 2015, Tuesday, at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja. It is initiated by ARISE Television and Channels TV. The Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN) will be presented by THISDAY and Guardian Newspapers Limited.
Attendance at the event is strictly by invitation.
In the letter dated January 11, 2015 to both candidates and delivered the same day, the organisers had noted that “too many of the troubles we now face stem from governance, decisions made behind closed doors, regulations removed when no one was looking, or reckless actions and impunity across the polity.
Currently, the organisers of the February 3 debates confirmed that Jonathan/Sambo 2015 Presidential Campaign Organisation had accepted the invitation in written form.
Senator Ahmadu Ali, Director General of the Jonathan/Sambo 2015 Presidential Campaign Organisation, wrote that Jonathan’s team “has accepted to participate in the debate.”
General Buhari / Osinbajo Campaign Organisation has indicated its intention to participate in principle.
