PRESIDENT JONATHAN'S FULL SPEECH AT THE PDP PRESIDENTIAL RALLY IN OSOGBO

President Goodluck Jonathan who is seeking re-election in the February 14 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that he has done what he promised Nigerians four years ago, adding that he deserves to be re-elected.

President Jonathan who spoke in Osogbo, Osun State capital yesterday in continuation of his campaign noted that
the coming election is between light which he represents and darkness which his opponent represents, warning that it would be retrogressive for Nigerians to leave the destiny of this nation in the hands of a man without sound education.

He said that since assumption of office four years ago, every sector of the country has been touched, stressing that the rail transport sector which has been abandoned by successive administrations in Nigeria has been revived, and promising to use his next mandate to transform the country.

He said, “I implore first time voters to get their permanent voter cards and vote for me and all the candidates of the PDP. We know that over 8 million young Nigerians apply for jobs every year; we will create 2 million job opportunities every year and before our tenure ends in 2019, we would have reduced unemployment drastically in the country.”, Jonathan said.

“We have done reasonably well since assumption of office despite the challenges. We have put in place cottage industries and small-scale industries that will make our youths to be self reliant. The neglected trains are now working and this in a few years will galvanise the mass transit system in the country. The resuscitated train system in Osun State is done by PDP government and today, our people are happy”.

…Promises Sincere Govt, Creation of 8 Million Jobs In 4 years

Meanwhile, Jonathan has promised to provide a real and sincere government to the people, if re-elected. He also voiced his government’s resolve to generate about 8million jobs in the next four years.

Jonathan made the promise yesterday during the PDP presidential rally in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

At the event, held at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Jonathan noted that the PDP government was redefining politics devoid of deceit. “In the education sector, more Almajiri schools have been established across the country, while universities in the South West have benefitted more from TETfund since my assumption of office”.

He noted that his administration will do more if given the opportunity come January 14 presidential election calling on Nigerians not to vote for a man that would relegate women to nothing.

‘’Do you vote for tyrannical government and a man who does not believe in the ethos of democracy? Do you want to vote for a man who wants to scrap the office of the first lady and relegate women hood to the background? In PDP we have demonstrated that women can be used optimally and that our administration has done by appointing women to positions of trust in Nigeria.

“The coming election is a vote for free citizens which we represent and imprison citizens which they represent. We are determined to reposition the country in the next four years. We are going to create opportunities for Nigerians as we have been doing.

The president therefore called on the people of Osun state to vote enmass for him and his party in the coming election, promising to do more for Nigerians.

Speaking on the alleged dwindling federal allocation that necessitated unpaid salaries in Osun state, the vice president, Arch. Namad Sambo said: “Na lie o. The Federal government is not owing any state. Every month, they (governors) go to Abuja and collect their allocations, so they should be able to pay their workers.”

“The only answer is PDP; if not, you will continue to suffer; you must remove yourselves from those shackles. You need educated people to lead you or are you going to elect somebody that has no certificate?”, he asked as the crowd chorused “No”.

Also speaking at the presidential campaign rally, the PDP chairman, Alhaji Adamu Muazu said: “nobody is owing Osun. Ask your governor why he is not paying your salaries.”

The PDP governorship candidate in the state, Senator Iyiola Omisore said Aregbesola owed some banks in the country the sum of N7 billion and that is why there is economic hardship in the state.
