1. PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED TRAINEES WED AT REHABILITATION CENTRE IN LAGOS

Two physically and mentally challenged Trainees of the Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for Persons with disabilities at Owutu were joined in matrimony at the Centre in Ikorodu.

The wedding of the Couple, Samiat Abiola, a 20 year old indigent of the Centre with no known relative who had been under “Care and Protection” for over 10 years by the State Government while the groom, Dare Akinyemi, an ex-trainee, age 42 years was witnessed by members of the Grooms family and Officials of the Office of Youth and Social Development, Lagos State.

Fulani herdsmen invade Zamfara villages •Rape 50 women, displace 2,000

ONE woman was reported to have died, while 50 were raped and about 2,000 others and children were displaced in multiple attacks by Fulani cattle rustlers in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Findings by the Nigerian Tribune gathered that the multiple attacks which started on Monday evening, lasted till Tuesday morning.

The affected villages were Fegin mahe, Fegin kanawa, Kundumai, Ingwai and Tsaunuku.

Other were Gangara,Wonaka, Kuka gandu, Kuliwa and Lahiya.

A survivor, Malama Aisha Ibrahim, from Fegin kanawa disclosed that she and other women ran to Gusau for safety, following the ransacking of their villages by the hoodlums.

According to her, one of the victims, a middle-aged woman, was raped by eight men and she later died.

She further revealed that over 50 women were raped in the attacks.

Ebola: Doctors Reject Sept 22 Schools’ Resumption Date

The Nigerian Medical Association on Monday faulted the Federal Government’s directive to schools to resume on September 22 as against October 12.

It said through its National Secretary-General, Dr. Olawunmi Alayaki, that all schools ought to remain shut till all those under surveillance for the Ebola Virus Disease in the country had been certified free.

PDP And APC Lawyers Clash Disrupt Electoral Materials Inspections in Osun

Lawyers of both the peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State, yesterday, almost resorted to physical combat and disrupted the planned inspection of election materials used for the August 9 governorship election.

Both parties were granted requests by the tribunal to inspect the election materials used for the last governorship election in the state.
But at commencement of the exercise at the INEC headquarters, Osogbo, lawyers of both parties almost exchanged blows after a hot argument that ensued between them as a result of absence of an exhibit to be used for the inspection.

Nollywood Actor Arrested For Disrupting Airik Air Flight With False Ebola Alarm

A Nigerian actor, Chris Bassey, was arrested recently when he disrupted an Arik Air flight from Enugu to Lagos with a hoax call, that a female passenger who was travelling on the flight was infected with the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
When the female passenger was tested on arrival at the Lagos airport, she tested negative, prompting the airline to order for Bassey’s arrest.
He would be charged to court next Monday for raising a false alarm which disrupted the operations of the airline.
