LASTMA MESSAGE:ALTERNATIVE ROUTES TO EKO BRIDGE

The Management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, (LASTMA) has called for support and cooperation of motorists through the remaining period of repair works on the expansion joints of the Eko Bridge by planning their journeys and importantly making use of alternative routes in order to reduce the traffic effect necessitated by the rehabilitation works on road users.

The General Manager of the agency Engr. Babatunde Edu made this call on Wednesday in his office at Oshodi. He urged motorists traveling in the evening from the Island inward to Costain to avoid the Eko bridge but advised that they could join the Third Mainland Bridge through Adeniji Adele, while Carter Bridge can be accessed through Iddo or Idumota to continue their journey home unhitched.

This move according to him is healthy, reduces travel time, as well as a guarantee on the quality of work through the repair process. The LASTMA boss stated further that LASTMA officials had been strategically positioned to guide motorists through traffic prone points since the commencement of the repair work on the 76 expansion joints of the bridge which began on August 23rd 2014 and therefore, advised road users to obey road signs, which are installed to provide directions.
