Osoba leads ex-governors forum at confab
ABEOKUTA—Erstwhile Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba has been selected as the leader of the Former Governors Forum at the proposed National Conference.
Osoba’s emergence was announced in a statement by the Chairman of the Forum, Senator Jim Nwobodo and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta , the Ogun State capital.
According to the statement, members of the delegates for the forum include; Alhaji Mohammed Goni (North-East), Ambassador Fidelis Tapgun (North-Central), Alhaji Saidu Barda (North-West), Chief Achike Udenwa (South-East), Obong Victor Attah (South-South) and Chief Olusegun Osoba, South-West.
The statement read. “The body had earlier met on Tuesday at number 24 Crescent, Maitama, Abuja where it was unanimously agreed that, Osoba will lead the delegation to the conference.
“The appointment of the delegates is in accordance with the guidelines released by the Federal Government on the proposed National Conference. The former governors forum met and unanimously approved the membership.
“The delegation will be led by the renowned journalist, an outstanding member of the Nigeria post independence leaders and a two time former governor of Ogun State,Chief Olusegun Osoba.
“The delegates from the Forum are accomplished Nigerians,whose capacity in different areas of human endeavours cannot be doubted. They will form a key pillar in the delibrations.”
The Forum Chairman, however, enjoined all Nigerians to pray for the success of the National Conference.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State has commended the forum for choosing its leader as the leader of the delegates for the Forum.
A member of the House of Representatives from Ewekoro-Ifo, Adekunle Adeyemi stated this yesterday on behalf of other lawmakers under the party in the state.
