OGUN LP: I did not grant any order restraining Daniel, others - Justice Aneke.

Hon. Justice Chukwujekwu. J. Aneke of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi Lagos has, this morning,  reinstated that he did not grant any order to the plaintiffs in the case filed by some suspended members of the Ogun State Labour Party  restraining the leader of the Labour Party (LP) in Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and five other gubernatorial aspirants from party registration  contrary to what was speculated in the news some weeks back.


In the hearing of Suit No.  FH/L/CS/123/14 filed by some suspended members of the Labour Party in Ogun State, Hon. Justice Aneke expressed dismay over a petition written against him  to the Chief Justice of Fedration by the defendants where he was  accused of bias.  The judge,  in the open court,  said; " Assuming I made the orders what would have happened? I have the right to make mistakes".  But, the counsel to the 4th defendant, (Labour Party),  Chief Chukwuma Ekemaru,  SAN, plead with the Hon Justice to let go the issue stressing that politicians are fond of mudslinging  and that he would  get involved in the matter.

The Judge however refused to grant any order or motion exparte  requested for by the counsels but granted an enlargement of time  to enable all the parties regularise their applications before the court and then  andjourned the case to 15th April, 2014.

Meanwhile, the Executive Officers of the Labour Party namely Comrade Samson Okusanya; Deputy State Chairman, Ogun East Senatorial, Comrade Samuel O. Ayeni; Deputy State Chairman, Ogun Central Senatorial, Comrade Omolola Soyombo; State Women Leader, Comrade Mufutau Adekogbe; State Organising Secretary and Comrade Moruf Ogunsi, State Publicity Secretary including  all the Local Governmrnt  Chairmen of the party in the State have  dissociated themselves from the suit. In a release signed by the party officials,  they stated that " the applicants in the case are under suspension from the party going by letters from the National Secretariat in Abuja for their bad conducts.  development and they are not representing us in any form.

 We wish to state that the general public is being misinformed by the said publications as such orders were never granted. Rather, the order granted was that the status quo  must be maintained pending the hearing of the substantive suit.
Continuing, the release stressed that the executive officers of the Labour Party in Ogun State are resolute in their collective resolve to build a strong and virile political party where discipline would reign supreme. "It is clear from what is on ground now that the Labour Party is poised to take over governance in Ogun State come 2015.
 Lastly, we must not fail to inform our people that the actions of these people are  being sponsored by some fifth columnists who do not mean well for our party and the state.
