'WE’LL COMPLETE MOST MAJOR ROAD PROJECTS THIS YEAR' - Gov AMAECHI
Rivers State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has assured that his administration would complete this year most key road projects in the state.
Among other roads, he named such major road projects for completion this year to include the Andoni-Opobo Unity Road, the road leading to Akpajo from Dr Peter Odili road and the Garrison, Woji and Slaughter flyovers.
Governor Amaechi gave the assurance at the end of an inspection tour of some key road projects in the state on Tuesday.
“The road that leads to Akpajo from Peter Odili road is also nearing completion. There we are owing about N6 billion. Once they complete this second bridge, then the road is done. Most of the roads will be completed this year”, he said.
He said his administration would properly fund the road projects to ensure their completion.
He also said the Andoni/Opobo Unity road would be completed in the next few months and explained why the road could not be completed late last year.
On the Woji flyover, he said: “On that road, there are three flyovers. There is one at Garrison, there is one at Nkpogu and then there is one at Slaughter. Then at Woji, there will be a major roundabout and at Elelenwo too... We will gradually get there but we are doing that not just to expand the city but to make transportation a little bit easier”.
Amaechi said his administration had expended substantial amounts of money on road construction to expand the city of Port Harcourt and make transportation easier in the state capital.
