"Our VC is a devil" As peaceful protest turns violence in Lasu
The students of the Lagos state university today went on a peaceful protest to plead with their Vice Chancellor, Oladapo John Obafunwa, who in turn provoked and refuse the student's request/plead, leading the protest to a violent one
According to reports, the students who have been denied access to register for their exam due to late entrance registration, went on a peaceful protest to plead with the vice chancellor to allow them register for their exam.
The protest which started in the early hours of Wednesday turn violence at 5pm in the evening when the VC battered and molested one of the female students
"Our VC is a devil, he doesn't deserve to be a vice chancellor, All we did was stage a peaceful protest to plead with our VC to pardon and allow us register for our exams, for christ sake! Each student in this school pay of tuition fee of 250k" said one of the students
At about 5pm in the evening which was already four to five hours into the protest, a female student on sighting the vice chancellor leaving his office approached and held the VC's leg in a effort to plead with him, but the VC instead kicked and assaulted the female student as he walks out on her
This got the students angry at the VC as the peaceful protest turned violent, leaving all roads around the school premises blocked, burnt tires were seen littered everywhere with flames throwing around the place of protest, the Nigeria police were seen trying to calm the angry student but all to no avail as the protest lasted for till 8pm on Wednesday.
Effort to speak with the school authorities proves abortive as at the time of filing this report
