Blackface, Tuface
Blackface, Tuface
Tuface met BlackFace at the Institute of Management technology in 1996 shortly before Plantashun Boyz was formed with Richard Chibuzor Oj (Faze). They quickly stuck as friends until undisclosed internal crisis forced the group to split.
However, real trouble between these two started with the noise raised over the original writer of African Queen. The matter was quickly and amicably settled but their relationship never again remained the same even after they came back briefly in 2007 to do a Plantashun Boyz re-union album titled Plan B.

Fake NYSC orientation camp: 62 fake corps members arrested

NIGERIA Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State command, on Monday, arrested 62 fake corps members at another fake National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp at Tammah village, in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.

The Nigerian Tribune gathered that the fake orientation camp was to operate for just one day, in which all the fake corps members would take their photographs with both the NYSC vested crest and other kits and were likely to be issued fake certificates forthwith for future references.

Parading the suspects, 44 females and 18 males, the state commandant, Mr Andekin Amos Musa, said the arrest was made possible through the routine surveillance of members of the state command, adding that four drivers, who convened them to the village and one of the photographers assigned for the illicit job, were also arrested.

According to him: “The suspected fake corps members were arrested at the outskirt of  Nasarawa town near the Government Secondary School and investigations are still on, as they will be charged to court immediately after investigations. Our investigations thus far  revealed that one Mr Chinedu, was the coordinator and director of the fake camp.

“Further investigations revealed that the suspected  fake corps members paid money ranging from N120,000 to N200,000  before they were admitted to the camp. “I want to warn parents and guardians to monitor their children and wards very closely, so as to curb their excesses,” he added.

In an interview with newsmen, some of the suspects, who were alleged to be running evening classes at the University of Jos, Jos, Plateau State capital, lamented that they were lured into it, saying, “we were not aware it is fake due to our desperation to get job after the education, because without the NYSC certificate, we may not get a job in the future.”

It will be recalled that the command had paraded fake corps members, who were arrested at two different fake camps in preparations for induction and orientation in the outskirt of the state, recently.

I want a guy with a big... - Anuoluwapo

Sosanya Anuoluwapo Oriyomi is a Nollywood actress, producer and an undergraduate student of Marketing at the Lagos State University (LASU). In this interview with  TAYO GESINDE, she speaks on her passion for acting, marital status and fashion preferences. Excerpts:

Growing up.
Whoa! Growing up was a lesson and adventure with God on my side and my family.  I attended Onitolo Primary School and Maryland Comprehensive Secondary School. I did diploma in acting at Jide Kosoko Training School (JKT).

Foray into acting.
Acting is my passion. I love it so much that I made up my mind to become a professional actress.  That was why I decided to go to JKT to learn the rudiments of acting.

I  am also doing some courses, once I  am through with them, I will talk about them.

I got into the movie industry in 2004 through Jide Kosoko Training School and graduated in 2009 and thanks to my boss, he gave me the necessary training in practical, theory and writing. I have featured in several movies like Okun Ore, Obi, Arobi, Ikilo, Irole, Tofunmi, Ejakafijafolorun, Imisi, Kukoyi, Jaye Oba, Mona, Boseyekorinilumi. I also produced a movie, The Bond(Edidi) and I will say The Bond(Edidi) brought me into the  limelight, because before I shot the movie, there had been some awareness, and after we shot it, it was stolen by  armed robbers and since  we couldn’t retrieve it,  we had to reshoot.  Thanks to God, my family, my colleagues, friends and all the cast and crew came back for the reshoot. The movie did well in the market because a lot of people were eager to watch it when it was released.

Description of self.
I will describe myself as a friendly and a jovial person.

Philosophy of life.
Life is like a dice, you never know what comes next. Just be good to yourself and appreciate life because life is the most valuable gift we ever had and if money can’t buy it, then, I don’t expect people to oppress one another. Life is short, live your dream and follow your passion.

Definition of style.
Style is a distinctive manner of expression. Your style is your passion. Most times, my mood, not occasions, determines what I wear. Sometimes, I follow fashion trend and at other times, I set my own trend. I buy fashion ensembles that suit me and make me look beautiful.

Beauty regimen.
I give myself a nice treat, once in a while, I go to the spa. I eat lots of fruits and healthy food.  Also, I drink lots of water. I skip and jog regularly.

Choice of accessories.
I love simple but pronounced accessories.

Accessory I cannot  do without.
Nothing. I can do without any accessory.

Favourite designers.
Dior, Celine, CK, Burberry, Carmen, Marc Valvo, Bluemarin and many more. I love nice and lovely stuffs. So, I can go for any designer’s label.

Favourite colours.
I love purple and peach. I also like orange combined with lemon.

Favourite perfumes.
DKNY, Channel, Ralph, Hugo Boss, Dior. Amor Amor. I love men’s perfume; so, I wear them almost all the time.

Most expensive item in my wardrobe.
I have a couple of them because once I see something lovely, I don’t mind the price, I go for it. Like my last birthday gown, it was made by Deeva Couture and  trust me, it is expensive. But I loved it; I didn’t  mind how must it cost me.

Diet or exercise.
I do both. I go on diet and every morning, I always exercise with my sister.

Special treat.
Hmmm! That is when you see me go to the spa to do my pedicure, manicure and facials.  I go for shopping then hang out with the girls.

Opinion on toning.
I believe you can tone your skin, especially if you feel that you are becoming darker. Sometimes, I do too, because of my job. You barely know what we go through under the red headlight. But it must not turn to bleaching. That is a different ball game.

Cosmetic surgery.
Nooooo! Never! Chei you wan turn me to oyinbo? The fear of going through any kind of surgery is like going to war for me.

What I will like to change about myself.
I wish to be slimmer, but I am working on it.

Greatest physical assets.
My boobs, lips, fingernails, eyeballs. Those are what I consider to be my physical assets.

Provocative dressing.
I don’t support the idea of ladies exposing sensitive parts of their bodies. But at the same time, I realise that some people feel comfortable wearing such dresses but they should not go overboard.

Secret of  beauty.
My God.

What I won’t be caught wearing.
Nothing.

My nails and hair.
I have very long and lovely nails, If I don’t rap my nails, I will just coat it with a very sweet paint and, as for my hair, I  plait African styles. I go for low cut, dreadlocks,  braids and most times, I fix weave on.

I am not married but I am not searching. I don’t have kids either. My kind of a guy is a guy with a big heart.

 Coping with male admirers.
I turn my admirers down politely.

Favourite pastime.
I like going on vacation.

Advice to women on how to stay young and beautiful.
Worry less, be happy and stay focused.

Why I don’t wear full pants - Bunmi Nelson (Nollywood Actress)

Bunmi Jedidiah Nelson, a Theatre Arts graduate of  Lagos State University (LASU), who is popularly  known as Sexy Choco, is an actress and a producer. The Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of House of Euphoria, a fashion outfit  located in Lekki, Lagos State, in this interview with TAYO GESINDE, says she loves to act, drive, cook and kiss. Excerpts:
Growing up.
GROWING up was splendid. I grew up at Ajao Estate in Lagos. I am the sixth in a family of nine. My dad spoilt us silly. He was fond of showering us with gifts to bribe us for not always being around as he used to travel a lot, he was always travelling out of the country back then. I was very mischievous and was never tired of playing pranks. My parents and siblings are abroad now. I attended the popular A/Z International School owned by Princess Bola Jegede. I attended Kwara State Polythecnic and later proceeded to Lagos State University where I studied Theatre Arts. I also attended the Nigerian French Language Village, Badagry. I am planning to further my education by attending New York Film Academy in the United States to study filming, directing and cinematography.

Foray into acting.
I have always loved acting. I had a flair for it right from childhood. My sister and I loved watching Indian movies a lot and used to mimic some of the popular stars. So, I would say it all started in the 80’s. In 1999, I presented a TV programme ‘Youths to Youths.’ I later joined the Actors Guild of Nigeria officially on December 16, 2000 and since then, I’ve not looked back. My first movie was Silver Lining. I have featured in over 50 movies and the  most challenging one is ‘Oko Oloko.’ The role I played there was different from my regular roles, I had to play an obsessed secretary who was very domineering and wicked.

Description of self.
I am adventurous, nice, loving and caring. I am a great cook, very romantic, God fearing , strong-willed and a hardworking lady. In fact, I am a force to reckon with and  a brain on two legs. I love to act,   drive long distance, kiss and cook.

Philosophy of life.
Live and let live.

Definition of style.
Style to me means suave, posh, panache and aura. My style is sexy with a bit of finesse. When I want to buy my fashion ensembles, I go for things that are distinct enough to make anyone look at me twice. When it comes to fashion trend, I just roll with the flow. My fashion watchword is: Looking good is good business.

Favourite designers.
Lanre da-Silva and Alexander Mcqueen.

Favourite colours.
My favourite colours are orange, pink, purple and red.

Favourite perfumes.
Vera Wang, Estee Lauder and Michael Kors.

Choice of accessories.
I love chandelier earrings and neck chokers with embellishment as well as cocktail rings and square bangles.

Accessory I can’t do without when going out.
My rings.

Most expensive items in my wardrobe.
My shoes and purses.

Beauty regimen.
Nothing spectacular.  I wash my face before going to bed with water or cleanser (can’t be caught sleeping with make-up on, except when I’m extremely tired or fatigued). I make sure I use good skincare products).
I scarcely do make-up, except when I’m on set.  People prefer me without make-up. I also know that I am more beautiful with my natural looks. I go for facials and massage quarterly.

What I won’t be caught dead wearing.
Full pants. I wear g-string.

My hair and nails.
When it comes to my hair, it is Mohawk. While I wrap my nails.

Opinion on toning.
It is repulsive. It is true that, that is what is in vogue now, I follow some trends but definitely not that one because we all know its end result.

Tattoo or piercing.
Tattoo because that is what I have on some parts of my body. My tattoo symbolises love because I’m romantic.

My take on cosmetic surgery.
It is nice when you do it initially, but the end justifies the means.

Provocative dressing.
It is okay but it should not be done in excess. For instance, I can show a  bit of the cleavage but that is all.

Greatest physical assets.
My eyes and lips.

Diet or exercise.
I do both, though I am more into dieting than exercise.

Special treat.
Shop for myself.

Marital status.
I am single. My kind of guy must be handsome, have a great sense of humour, neat, accommodating, kind, hardworking, romantic and a great kisser. He must also love the things of God.

Coping with male admirers.
You can’t bite more than you can chew so, despite my many male admirers, I just keep them as friends, no strings attached.

Favourite pastime.
Cooking, driving and travelling.

Advice on how to stay young and beautiful.
Eat fresh and good food, fruits, exercise a lot and go to the spa if you can afford it, use good cosmetics or deodorant, and also avoid multiple sex partners (stick to one if you can) to avoid wrinkle, aging and sagging.

Pains and gains of being an actress.
The pain is that you don’t have a private life of your own anymore and you get hurt when papers tell lies about you or fabricate stories about you. The gain on the other hand is that being a star opens many doors for you. You will also be celebrated as you will have loads of fans.

Negative press.
I have never had negative press because I stay out of trouble.

Secret of beauty.
If I tell you the secret of my beauty, it wouldn’t be a secret anymore.

On actresses dating married men.
Different strokes for different folks. But not in all cases.  Personally, I can’t say because in life, you can never say never.

Drinking or smoking.
I drink liquor occasionally.

To my fans.
If you try initially and you don’t succeed, try, try and try again! Be determined and focused, bearing it in mind that God doesn’t give you a vision without a provision. I’m thankful to all those who believed in me, it is because of them that I’m where I am today. I love them all.

Fake doctor arrested for N89m health insurance scam

A fake medical doctor, Mr. Ibukun Ojo, has been arrested by the Special Fraud Unit Ikoyi, Lagos, for his role in an attempt to defraud the Canadian Government of N89m health insurance claims. His accomplice, Steve Fakolujo, is said to be on the run.
In May 2012, Ojo had allegedly prepared a fake medical report for Fakolujo, a Nigerian citizen who resides in Canada. This was to enable Fakolujo to claim the sum of N89m in the form of health insurance from the Canadian Government.
Ojo, an alleged medical dropout from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, was until his arrest the Medical Director, Mount Zion Hospital, at 2, Mukandasi Street, Oja-Oke, Oshodi.
At the bungalow where Ojo works and lives, he doubles as the doctor, nurse, receptionist and cleaner.
The Commissioner of Police, SFU, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, while parading the suspect, said, “We received a petition from the Canadian High Commission on March 6, 2013 alleging a case of fraud against Mount Zion Hospital.
“They claimed Ojo had forged the following documents to enable Fakolujo to claim health insurance from the Canadian Government; medical professional and consultation charges, drugs and medications, ambulance fees, accommodation and feeding, other miscellaneous expenses.”
A copy of the medical summary made available to PUNCH Metro and addressed to the Manager, Canassistance, Quebec, Canada, revealed that Fakolujo was allegedly taken to the Mount Zion hospital by ambulance on May 20, 2012.
Fakolujo was said to be on oxygen mask and life-support machine and his pulse almost absent. The summary read in part, “He was diagnosed with severe gastroenteritis and was already in hypovolemic shock; thorough resuscitative and stabilisation machinery instituted, vigorous intravenous rehydration employed.
“On May 24, 2012 the pulse became stronger and visiting nephrologists confirmed renal failure. Fakolujo was immediately booked for renal dialysis. After the procedure, blood chemistry became normal, oral diet was re-introduced. He was eventually diagnosed with plasmodiasis and treated accordingly. He was discharged in good health on June 2, 2012.”
Attached to the summary was a bill which claimed Fakolujo had spent N89m as his medical expenses.
The breakdown showed that accommodation and feeding were N19.9m; medical professional and consultation charges N28m; drugs and medication N19.6m; ambulance fees N10.1m; and miscellaneous expenses N5.7m.
Ojo, who was moody during the parade, reluctantly gave a few words in his defence to PUNCH Metro.
He said, “I have never been to Canada and I know nothing about their health insurance. Fakolujo was on a brief visit to Nigeria; he walked into my hospital last year and asked me to assist him with these documents. I was paid N1,500 for my efforts.”
Ojo was however, silent on his qualifications as a medical doctor.
Ogunsakin said, “After we received the petition, we began investigation. We visited Ojo at his hospital and discovered him to be a fraud. He was the sole employee at the hospital that consisted of four dirty beds for admitting patients, a small, dirty room used as an operating theatre, some case files belonging to patients, two stethoscopes and some other funny hospital equipment.
“Despite being an unqualified doctor, Ojo had been in practice for the past five years. He would be charged to court soonest at the conclusion of our investigation.”
