A Federal High Court in Abuja will on March 21 rule on whether to admit in evidence the statement of Col. Nicholas Ashinze, in a charge brought against him by the Federal Government.
Ashinze was a former aide to ex National Security Adviser (NSA) Col. Sambo Dasuki. He is being prosecuted on corruption related offences by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC.

A new Director Defence information has been appointed. He is Major General John Enenche. He replaced Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar who is now the Director of Information Management in the Department of Civil Military Affairs, Army Headquarters.

Troops of joint operation DELTA SAFE have intensified raids operation against crude oil theft with destruction of 80 illegal refineries across Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers States recently.
In Bayelsa state, troops patrol around Obhoyohan and Ngiri Creeks in Nembe Local Government Area discovered and destroyed 7 illegal refineries containing 150,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil. Three suspects were also arrested in connection with the illegalities, and are currently undergoing investigation.

The Lagos State Commissioner for The Environment, Dr. Babatunde Adejare has restated that the State Government is yet to introduce charges for the consumption of water from boreholes neither has it criminalised the sinking of boreholes in Lagos.

Omega Fire Ministries, who has been accused of dumping his pregnant
lover, whom he promised marriage, and is using the police to silence her
and treating her like a common criminal, Saharareporters reported.
The lover, Miss Stephanie Otobo, is a musician based in Ontario, Canada, who goes by the stage name of Kimora. Miss Otobo’s attorneys, Festus Keyamo Chambers, in a letter to the Inspector-General of Police, said she was arrested on March 3 at a United Bank of Africa branch by heavily armed policemen from Federal Criminal Investigations Department (FCID), Alagbon, at the Anthony Village area of Lagos. She has since been in detention, where she has been denied food and visitation by her lawyers.

Four policemen attached to the `A’ team of the Police X Squad at the Lagos State Police Command died on Sunday from a fatal accident while on surveillance and patrol duty.

Detained Kano State musician, Sadiq Zazzabi, has been released.
Zazzabi was arraigned by the Kano State Censorship Board for releasing a song for former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, without the approval of the censorship board.
The court which sat on Wednesday directed that Zazzabi be remanded in prison until last week Friday.
However, the court did not sit on Friday which resulted in the singer remaining in prison custody until Monday 6.
On Monday, the musician was granted bail on three conditions: the sum of N100,000, a member of the music writers association of Kano State, and a civil servant of not lower than grade level 14.
Zazzabi met with the bail conditions and has since been released.
The court sitting will continue on March 27.

Unions, workers picket Landover Company

Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) over alleged anti-labour
practices by the firm.
The union took over the
premises of the firm as helicopter workers engaged by the company who
came from Warri, Delta State also joined in the protest.
They were protesting against non-remittance of taxes, anti-labour practices and unjust sack of their members by the management.
The workers also alleged
that their taxes deducted for almost 15 years were not remitted to the
appropriate places while Cumulative Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the
workers are constantly violated by the management.
The workers had stormed
the airline’s headquarters in Lagos as early as 4 am to barricade
entrance for workers and carried different placards to press home their

Yola high court presided over by Justice Nathan Musa on Monday sentenced
former Adamawa State governor, Barrister Bala James Ngillari to five
years jail term without option of fine over corruption related cases.
