Nigerian Army Strongly Refutes Allegation of Killing of Igbo Youths

REJOINDER TO THE CAMPAIGN FOR DEMOCRACY’S ALLEGATION OF THE KILLING OF 2000 IGBO YOUTHS BY THE NIGERIAN ARMY

The attention of Headquarters 82 Division Nigerian Army has again been drawn to an unjustified, invidious and over flogged accusation, this time, by the Campaign for Democracy (CD) of “Mass killings of Igbo Youths by the Nigerian Army”. This allegation is contained in a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary, CD in Onitsha, Anambra State.

In the statement, the CD claimed that “No fewer than 2000 Igbo Youths had been killed by the Nigerian Army under the guise of Rules of Engagement”.

Similarly there was also report claiming that Amnesty International indicted Nigerian Security Forces in the “killing of No Fewer Than 150 Peaceful Pro Biafra Protesters” in the South Eastern part of Nigeria with different captions in the media. These story lines are referring to the encounter between the Nigerian Army and MASSOB/IPOB protesters between August 2015 and August 2016. All these have been severally thoroughly refuted in many media platforms by the Nigerian Army and it is the same position that this rejoinder has soundly adopted.

For emphasis and clarity, the Nigerian Army as an accountable, morally and professionally sound organization had variously through its Human Rights Desk at the Army Headquarters, painstakingly investigated allegations of rights violations and the results indicated specifically that this claim is false, malicious and should therefore be ignored for the sake of Nigeria.

Instructively, the Nigerian Army under its constitutional authorization to aid Civil Authority and Military Aid to Civil Power must continue to act in the best interest of the nation (in collaboration with other security agencies) to de-escalate violence and checkmate security threats across the nation. This task must be done, despite the sordid propaganda and possible politicization of the issue by ill meaning Nigerians.

Finally, looking at the recurrent posture of this allegation, the 82 Division Nigerian Army wishes to state that relevant authority/ies in the South East are at liberty to set up an inquiry in to this accusation with the view to getting to the roots and end of this obnoxious and unfounded claim.

Paris Club: We Didn’t Receive N9b-KWSG

Kwara State Government has described as outright falsehood media reports that it received N9b as its share of the London-Paris Loan Club refund from the federal government.

Reacting on behalf of the government, the State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu explained that the state government has only received and declared N5billion so far from the federal government but was yet to receive the balance of about N3.7billion.

He emphasized however that the state government is in the process of getting the Federal Ministry of Finance, Abuja to process and release the balance.

Providing further explanation, Banu emphasized that all states were supposed to receive 25 per cent of their claim, which in the case of Kwara State, amounted to about N9b, pending final reconciliation. He said that only N5b of the claim was released to the state as announced earlier. He said that having made a strong case for the balance of the 25 per cent, the state government was expecting the release of approximately N3.7b from the federal government anytime from next week. Banu said that additional installments of the remaining seventy-five per cent was also being expected by the state once the figures are verified.

Providing further clarification, Dr. Muyideen Akorede, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, revealed that the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed was personally coordinating efforts to secure the outstanding and had travelled to Abuja on different occasions to meet with federal officials to ensure timely reconciliation and release.

Akorede assured that once the money is received, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed will approve the release of local governments’ share of the fund to pay the proportion of staff and pension arrears the fund can cover. He said there was no way the government will announce funds which it had not received from the Federal Government or any other source.

He recalled that from N5billion earlier received by the state government from Federal Government for the London-Paris Club loan over-deductions in November 2016, Governor Ahmed had directed the release of N1.4b to local governments to augment their allocation for the payment of November and December 2016 salaries, while another N892m was released to clear salary arrears at tertiary institutions in the state.

The over 60,000 km2 forest is being painstakingly patrolled day and night by NAF Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft to deny the fleeing insurgents the opportunity to regroup and launch attack against host communities and own surface troops on clearance operation.

NAF Acquires Attack Helicopters... Provides Intelligence Missions

The Nigerian Airforce (NAF) has acquired two Mi-35M attack helicopter to fight terrorists and criminal gangs. The Mi-35M is a rugged helicopter that offers round the clock combat use of guided and unguided weapons in regular and challenging climate conditions which is equipped with the latest navigation suite, target sights system, laser range finder and location finder.

This was disclosed by Air Vice Marshal Isiaka Amao, Director of Training and Operation of the Nigerian Airforce at a media briefing in Abuja. The Media Briefing which was hosted by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar was to highlight major activities last year.

AVM Amao said that the achievements of NAF in 2016 covered improvement in platforms and operational capabilities, infrastructural development, training and professionalism.

He said “some of the major achievements of the NAF from January to December 2016 include the Acquisition of 2x Mi-35M helicopter with capabilities for night operations; acquisition of additional 2 new DA-40; reactivation of ATR-42 NAF 931; acquisition of A-Jet NAF 478 in addition to the operable 7 A-Jet ac fleet; induction of Super Mushshak ac (SMK) into the NAF inventory as a primary trainer; and induction of 3x EC-135 helicopters handed over to the NAF by NNPC in Mar 16”

Amao also disclosed that NAF provided most of the surveillance and intelligence activities towards the success of the counter-insurgency campaigns in the North-East and other special missions in the country.

He stated that “in the year 2016, 62 per cent of Intelligence missions were conducted not only to determine the location of abducted Nigerians but to also provide battle field situational awareness for the land forces. “

Speaking further, AVM Amao added that many liaison/logistics and re-supply sorties were flown to move large volume of materials in support of the Land Component’s advance into Sambisa. These include ammunition, water, tyres and other stores to staging areas in support of Op Crackdown.

He said that “CAS, logistics resupply and ISR missions aimed at dislodging the BHTs from their enclaves were further conducted in sustenance of the offensive operations on the ground.

“Additionally, MEDEVAC and CASEVAC were conducted in support of the surface forces. In the beginning of Jun 16, the Air Component’s efforts were geared towards consolidating the successes achieved during NA OP CRACK DOWN. Considerable number of AR and some AI, CAS and CAP sorties were flown to further degrade BHTs capabilities. These missions were conducted in Northern Borno and the Sambisa general area.”

Ogun PDP Dis-associates Self From PDP State Chairmen's Visit To Kashamu Buruji

A recent visit of some state chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to Senator Kashamu Buruji (Ogun East Senatorial District) has been described as an act of betrayal and an anti-party activity that would not lead to any positive development.

In a statement released on behalf of the Chairman of the Ogun State Chapter of the PDP, Hon. Sikurullahi Olawale Ogundele by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Malik Olamilekan Ibitoye, the visit is condemnable and should not be supported by any right thinking member of the party.

While dis-associating the state chapter of the party from the visit, Ogundele stated that it smarks of hypocrisy and irresponsibility 'on the part of the so-called state party chairmen.'

He added in the statement that it is unthinkable that some state chairmen of the party would visit someone who has since been suspended by the party, adding that the visiting chairmen should be sanctioned 'for involving themselves in an act that would add to the challenges the party is facing at this critical moment.'

"We all know the roles played by Senator Buruji Kasamu and his anti democratic agents and collaborators in making sure that the PDP lost the last governorship election in Ondo State to the All Progressives Congress. It is on record that Buruji's ally, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim openly admitted that they all worked for APC to win. ''We at the Ogun State chapter of the PDP see the visit as un-called for and an anti-party activity. It is not only surprising that the party chairmen could visit someone that has been suspended by the national body of the party, it is unwarranted, unethical and retrogresssive.

"Such a development should not be allowed at this time that we are talking of re-positioning our great party for the 2019 elections. All hands should be on deck to bring back the lost glory of the party rather than romancing a discredited member of the party, whose image is at the lowest ebb.

"Our party should not tolerate irresponsible acts from some undesirable element, who could not read between the lines. It is an inglorious and uncharitable exercise that our party cannot afford at this critical time," Ogundele was quoted as saying.

Ibitoye added in the statement that the visiting state chairmen of the party ought to have channeled their energy to productive ventures and prove to the people of Nigeria that the PDP is ready to take over power at the national and state levels, 'rather than partaking in a show of shame, adding that the state chairmen involved should realise that it is no longer business as usual for them.

He said; "With the visit, the visiting state chairmen of the PDP, who took part in the exercise, should be removed and suspended from the party. The visit has shown that they are the enemies within, who are working for the fall of the party.

"This action should not go unpunished. They should be sanctioned to serve as a deterrent to others because with these, those state party chairmen have scored an own goal, which we cannot afford at this material time."

Meanwhile, the Ogun PDP Chairman has enjoined party faithfuls to ignore a purported inauguration of an unknown Ogun State chapter of the South West Mobilisation and Organization Committee by the same Senator Kasamu, wondering where and when did a suspended member of a party derives its power and authority for such exercise. "It is just a social club in Ijebu Igbo, their master's home town where they drink and do some diabolical things. It is not recognized by the legally recognized PDP both at the national level and in Ogun State and should be likened to the convergence of jobless and insipid marauders seeking attention in Ogun State political space.'' Ogundele added.

The PDP chairman however, assured the people of Ogun State and Nigerians generally that the PDP is prepared to serve them better once the party is given a chance in the coming elections.

He added that the current economic, security and political situations in Nigeria are pointers to the fact that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has no solution to the numerous problems c‎onfronting the country.

2017 Golden Jubilee Budget: Appraising Lagos Lawmakers' Diligence, Sacrifice- Musbau Razak

The hallowed Chamber of the Lagos State House of Assembly and iits gallery was packed full of people on Tuesday, 29 November, 2016. These were not the lawmakers because the legislators were on their respective seats.

These were members of the public who had come to witness the presentation of the 2017 Appropriaton Bill which to the layman means the Budget Proposal. Budget Proposals detailed accounts of expenditure and receipts expected by the Government in a Fiscal Year.

The huge presence of members of the public at the event cannot be underestimated. Members of the public are usually very interested in the annual budget of the state in particular and of the country at large. This is understandable. The budget is not only the detailed explanation of revenue and expenditure of the government in a year, it is also the detailed report of projects and programmes vis a vis infrastructure and social development to be embarked on by the Government in a particular year hence the generality of members of the public are usually interested in the matter.

The Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, to confirm the importance of the occasion was brisk and direct to the point in presenting the budget proposal before the House members. He appropriately tagged it "Budget of Golden Jubilee" in reference to the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the creation of Lagos State in 2017.

Governor Ambode presented a total budget of N812.99 billion of which Capital Expenditure gulped a whopping N507.82 billion and Recurrent Expenditure was out at N305.28 billion. The fact that Capital Expenditure picked the lion share of the Budget underscored the determination of the Ambode administration's determination to improve and upgrade infrastructure facilities in the state as well as opening new vistas for the general improvement in the standard of living and welfare of the citizenry.

Before leaving the hallowed Chambers of the Assembly that particular day, Governor Ambode had urged the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa and other members of the House to expedite action on the budget proposal so that his administration could get to work and deliver the needed dividends of democracy to the good people of the state.

Rt. Hon. Obasa in his response, had praised Governor Ambode for his administration's sterling performance in lifting the standard of living of Lagosians.

While praising the Ambode administration, Obasa did not fail to acknowledge the cordial working relationship existing among the three arms of government in the state, a factor, he noted, was one of the major reasons for the progress being made by ths state.

On the budget, Rt. Hon. Obasa assured Governor Ambode of the lawmakers' determination to expedite action on the budget proposal. "it's our collective determination that the budget is passed on time so that we give our Governor the legal instrument to work and put in projects, programmes and measures aimed at improving and enhancing the standard of living and welfare of Lagosians," the Speaker had assured.

However, the Speaker did not fail to add that, "while we are all desirous of expediting action on the budget proposal, we will not fail to perform our duty of critical scrutiny and analysis of the budget. Therefore, while assurng Your Excellency and entire Lagosians in the speedy passage of the budget, we will be careful and thorough in scrutnising the budget and we will not be found wanting in performing our oversight duty on the budget".

With this statement, the House set to work on the budget proposal. The House Comittee on Budget and Economic Planning led by an experienced third term lawmaker, Hon. Emmanuel Rotimi Olowo from Somolu State Constituency 1, was saddled with the main job of scrutnising the various budget provisions of all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state which were over 150 in number. It was a huge assignment but the committee members were more than prepared and ready to sacrifice their time and energy to ensure that the budget to be passed has gone through the necessary due process.

Apart from the Budget and Economic Planning Committee members, chairmen and members of other standing committees of the House also set aside all other official and personal engagements to ensure that the Budget of Golden Jubilee is properly worked on.

Before encountering the Budget and Economic Planning Committee, MDAs must first pass through the committee which oversees them. Suffice to add that getting the approval of their overseeing committees does not mean that the MDAs have been given clean bill of health because they still have to.pass through the main Budget and Economic Planning Committee.

For the MDAs, it was indeed a hectic and testing time. A commissioner told this writer that he and his team went through hectic questioning for hours before his ministry's budget provision was approved. "It was no child's play. These people (lawmakers) were equal to the task and it was obvious that they knew what they were doing. From the sub-committee level to the main Budget and Economic Planning, the determination and commitment of the lawmakers to ensuring due process was never in doubt," the Commissioner told this writer.

It would be remembered with nostalgia that throughout the recess and 2016 yuletide holidays, the lawmakers sacrificed their time and personal engagements to work on the budget, even to the extent of coming to work on weekends and public holidays of the last yuletide.

During this time, Rt. Hon. Obasa was in the forefront. In the Seventh Assembly, Rt. Hon. Obasa was then the Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Economic Planning and he indeed brought his experience to bear during this period. He was like the General leading his troops out and leading by example. He was present throughout the holiday when the budget proposals were being scrutnised and even in the midst of his very tight official schedule, the Speaker did not fail to provide his support to his colleagues working on the budget.

A day before the 2017 budget was passed, Rt. Hon. Obasa and his colleagues abrupted their new year holiday and worked for hours to dot the I"s and cross the T's.

On Tuesday, January 3, 2017, when the Budget of Golden Jubilee was read for the third time, it was not passed as a mattter of course. Members still engaged in robust debate on sectoral provisions in the budget with Budget Committee Chairman, Hon. Olowo still having to go through barrage of questions and several observations were raised by his colleagues. One of such debates was whether or not Lagos Television and Radio Lagos should continue to collect grants from the state government when they all have potentials to generate and stand on their own. The Budget Committee had recommended that that state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, to engage an external auditor to audit the accounts of the agencies. The Chairman of the Committee overseeing the agencies, Hon Tunde Braimoh with his inside knowledge of activities of the agencies, had put up a spirited argument on why the subvemtions for the agencies be retained.

Hon. Olowo explained that his committee worked on the anakysis of revenues generated by the agencies provided in their budget proposals hence the committee's decison to recommend the audit to know whether or not the agencies deserved subvention from the state government as from 2018.

Eventually, it was the committee's recommendation that was adopted by the House. It was indeed a very eye-opening budget scrutnising exercise for the lawmakers and Lagosians will be the ultimate beneficiaries when the state givernment starts operating the budget.

The Chairman of the House Committee of Information, Strategy and Security who is also the official spokesman of the House, Hon Tunde Braimoh, captured the desire and intention of the lawmakers' commitment thus:

"Right from the moment the Governor presented the Appropriation Bill which everyone know as the Budget proposal, we, the lawmakers, were determined to expeditiously but meticulously and assidously work on the proposals with a view to ensuring that it was not only passed but that it also stands the test of time with the aim of providing the legal instrument for the Governor to aid his desire to provide physical and social infrastructure meant to enhance and improve the welfare of our people. This was not only to be done but to be properly done and in good time.

"This is what we have done by sacrificing our time, denying ourselves the comfort of our beds and homes during the Yuletide period with Mr Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, at the forefront to give Lagosians a budget that will stand the test of time. We are representatives of the people and we have proved that we are ready to sacrifice our all to ensure that they enjoy the benefits of purposeful governance".

Indeed, members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have shown commitment to improving the welfare and.standard of living of Lagosians with their handling of the Budget of Golden Jubilee. For Lagosians therefore, here come dividends of democracy at their doorsteps.

Musbau Razak is the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa

HOW WORKER DIED ON NEW YEAR EVE AT CHI LIMITED FACTORY

The Management of Chi Limited has explained the incident that leads to death of one of its workers involving men of the Nigerian Police Force.

According to a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs, Chi Limited, Bode Sojobi, the Company said the incident happened when the workers try to forcefully cart away products of the company. Below is the updated statement.

Kindly help to accommodate in your esteemed medium.

STATEMENT BY CHI LIMITED - 03/01/2017

In the evening of Friday, December 30, 2016, some workers succeeded in forcefully taking away several cartons of company products, damaging company property and endangering the lives of other personnel within the premises in the process.

As a result of this incident, Management decided to enhance security around the factory by reporting the case to the Nigerian Police Station at Ajao Estate, who responded by placing their men outside the entrance of the factory to avert any further looting.

The night shift workers resumed work without any problems until around 4:30 am when some of them decided to stop work two hours to the end of the shift, switched off the lights and proceeded to cart away company’s products without authorisation. In the course of doing this, they attacked other personnel in the premises and police men deployed to prevent further danger to lives and property.

The internal security personnel tried without success to persuade them to have a re-think. When they over-powered the internal security men, the members of the Nigerian Police Force at the gate stepped in to bring the situation under control.

In the course of the encounter with the police, two of the workers sustained gunshot wounds. They were rushed to a nearby company-retained hospital for treatment. One of the injured workers is in stable condition in the hospital. The second injured worker was subsequently referred to a Teaching Hospital and was conveyed there in the company’s ambulance. Sadly, he later passed on.

As an organisation that places high premium on human life, the death is immensely painful to us. Management immediately sent a delegation to condole with the family of the deceased

We are surprised and saddened by this event because prior to this incident there had been no dispute between the company and its workforce. We later learnt that some workers felt that there had been discrimination in the distribution of products of the company as Christmas gifts, and then decided without authorisation to take company products for themselves as their own Christmas gifts.

We are currently engaging with all parties and stakeholders to better understand what went wrong and address any related issues.

Signed

Bode Sojobi

Obasanjo Replies Awujale ... Calls his narratives "Tissues Of Lies"

Remember the portion of Awujale's book on Globacom Boss and Obasanjo that went viral?
Well, trust former President Obasanjo... Read his response below.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria has taken Oba Sikiru Adetona, Awujale of Ijebuland to the cleaners…

December 30, 2016

His Royal Highness,

Oba Alaiyeluwa S. K. Adetona,

The Awujale & Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland,

Oba Adetona Road,

P.O. Box 263, Ijebu Ode.

The extract from your Autobiography “Awujale: The Autobiography of Alaiyeluwa Oba S. K. Adetona, Ogbagba II”, published by Mosuro Publishers 2010, pp. 187-195, which I attach to this letter was presented to me for my attention.

Your assertion in the publication was a tissue of lies and untruths. Olopade is one of my best friends and yes, I would be at his birthday celebration but I would not have invited Mike, your cousin, to meet me anywhere other than my office or official residence as President of Nigeria. Kabiyesi, do you think I would set the press up to capture me and Mike in a photograph for the newspapers? That would be puerile of me as President. Of course, I could not say that Mike could not do that. That you think that I, as President of Nigeria, would descend to such depravity makes me think of you much less than I thought of you, until now.

The invitation to Mike to contribute to the building of the Library block of Bells University was issued to him by the then Vice-Chancellor, Professor Julius Okogie, who never told me about inviting Mike to so contribute until Mike pulled out. And that I have not and I will not talk to Mike about it should convince you that I know nothing about its genesis.

Under my watch, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, was free to do its job as it saw fit. Common sense would suggest that wild rumours should not be perpetrated by an Oba of your calibre. Kabiyesi, your cousin did not tell you that My Chief of Staff, Abdul Mohammed, put his reputation on line by assuring EFCC that Mike would go nowhere and they should trust him to give him his passport. I did not even know that Abdul had done that until the Chairman of EFCC, Nuhu Ribadu, reported the case of my Chief of Staff seemingly colluding with Mike to run out of the country. But I had implicit confidence in my Chief of Staff and I was to resolve the issue. Should your cousin not have mentioned to Abdul who guaranteed the release of his passport his fears and intention to go on exile?

On several occasions, Nuhu Ribadu has asserted that, under my watch, he was a free agent to do his work as he deemed fit. Where it was necessary, he reported the outcome of his work to me and the subsequent or follow-up actions he intended to take. On no occasion did I guide, lead or direct him on what to do.

Mike did not need to send anything to me to satisfy me, he needed to satisfy EFCC and so your sending any documents to me was insinuating that I am the one to be satisfied rather than the EFCC. So, such documents were not paid any attention by me. You, as the cousin and part beneficiary from Mike as you have told me in the past, would not be able to see the tree from the forest as far as the mode of operation of Nuhu Ribadu was concerned viz-a-viz Mike. If the EFCC was investigating anybody, I did not consider it right for me as the President of Nigeria to be undermining EFCC by hobnobbing with that person. EFCC must be given free hand to do its work. Even if such a person was my child, the best I could do would be to secure a good lawyer to handle the matter before the EFCC for that child.

It is not only in the case of Obajana Cement that you were rumour-mongering about me. You have done that repeatedly on many occasions. The latest one you did in 2016 was you telling me that you heard that I had gone to Rasak Okoya to seek to marry her daughter, Abiola, when it was the girl that came to appeal to me to intervene to placate and appeal to her father to forgive her for all her misbehaviour to her father. I did and the father and daughter were reconciled. I told you even then that it was unbecoming of an Oba. Of course, I am used to such rumours, slandering and insinuations since my days as a Unit Commander in the Army and I have developed thick skin. If ten per cent of the rumours ascribing businesses and properties I know nothing about were true, I would be the richest man on earth.

But recently, when Aliko, yourself and myself were together, Aliko assured you that I never ever had a single share in any of Aliko’s business interests but whenever he has called on me to help within and without to promote his business interest, I have always helped and I will always do because that is part of my job as a Nigerian leader – to help Nigerians grow their businesses or interests – and I have done that for other Nigerians and indeed for non-Nigerians, Africans and non-Africans who have requested me for help.

It was revealing to me on that occasion when Aliko made the point that one of his directors on his cement company is somebody very close to you.

I owed nobody any apologies in the course of doing my work as I believe I should do it or in the course of defending the interest of Nigeria and defending my integrity. As I could not open the treasury for S. O. Bakare for your so-called political support to me, I did not regard that as an offence. To the extent that I believed and regarded as proper, I instructed Tony Anenih as Minister of Works to patronize S. O. Bakare as a Peugeot car dealer. I will not comment on Atiku issue that you touched upon in your book because I have dealt with that elsewhere and you were only dabbling into an area where and thing you are absolutely ignorant about.

All that you wanted me to do in respect of Mike was improper whether when I was President or when I was out of office. I must not be seen to be in the way of allowing law to take its natural course. All I should do is to help the course of the law and help secure a good lawyer to help the process.

It is of interest to me that Mike did not tell you that when he wanted national honour, he came to me and I did not react until Babangida recommended him and said, “Of all those I have helped, Mike is one of the most appreciative.”

Kabiyesi, if I have squandered all the goodwill I had, you would not have contacted me on behalf of All Progressive Party, APC, to receive them in 2014 and you would not have been personally present when I received them as I demanded. I probably have greater goodwill today internally and externally than I had in office.

Kabiyesi, the total sum of what you have put down in those pages of your book is that I dislike Mike. Maybe I need to remind you that if there was any iota of truth in such a position or mindset, Mike would not have been granted the mobile telephone licence which made him a billionaire. It was my prerogative as the President so to do. You may also be reminded that in the first round of the auction which Mike did not make, the country earned US$285 million for each licence. The country earned only US$200 million from the licence transaction with Mike and in the subsequent transaction with Etisalat, the country earned US$400 million. It was a deliberate action on my part that a Nigerian should own one of the licences. Anybody else but Mike could have been that Nigerian.

Kabiyesi, the type of hate propaganda you have tried to project in that section of your book against my person is grossly unbecoming of an Oba let alone an Oba of your status and stature.

However, I still accord you the respect which I believe an Oba should be accorded and one for that matter who I presume to be a friend. In spite of your unfortunate projection, my position remains the same – respect for you as an Oba and a friend.

Kabiyesi, I believe that I should set the record straight for posterity and to caution you from engaging in unedifying rumour-mongering and untruth. Accept the assurances of my highest consideration.

OLUSEGUN OBASANJO

What Awujale Wrote:
“The EFCC in Lagos had come calling brusquely on Mike Adenuga (Jnr), Chairman Globacom on 9 July 2006. They broke his gate, swarmed into his house and kept him under ‘arrest’. When I heard about the arrest, I called the legal firms, of Ayanlaja SAN & Adesanya SAN as well as Professor Biodun Adesanya SAN to take up the matter and secure Mike’s release. They swung into action and gave indication that they would take the matter to court.”

“By evening, it was no longer necessary to go to court as Mike, following his statement to EFCC, had been released with instructions to report regularly to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja. Mike proceeded to Abuja, accompanied by his lawyer, Prof. Biodun Adesanya SAN. Indirectly related to this case, the EFCC had quizzed and released Mohammed Babangida, Ibrahim Babangida’s son. The EFCC purportedly were on the trail of some money belonging to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF), but there was really more beneath the veneer.”

“While Mike was in Abuja, he was counselled to see Obasanjo to extricate himself. For four days, he made attempts to see Obasanjo but was unsuccessful. After a few days in Abuja with no case pressed against him by EFCC, he returned to Lagos. Not long afterwards, and in the heat of this mess, Obasanjo did two things that puzzled me. He called Mike to meet him at a social event in Lagos – Engr. Olapade’s birthday celebration. Mike and Obasanjo were both captured by press photographers in the newspapers at the event. Following the celebration, Obasanjo asked Mike to accompany him to Ota. It was in Ota that he solicited for the construction of the Administration Block of his university, Bells University in Ota. Mike agreed and Carchez Turnkey Projects Ltd handled the project for him. It appeared the whole matter, the EFCC hunt, simmered and Mike continued about his business. On a trip to Ghana, he ran through his Nigerian daily newspapers and discovered that the situation was unfolding in a more revealing version. The EFCC had arrested Mohammed Babangida. Mike read between the lines and proceeded to the UK on exile. When I visited the UK, Mike came to see me, and wanted me to facilitate a meeting with Obasanjo so that he could present his side of the case.”

“The allegations against him were as follows:

1. That Abubakar Atiku, the Vice-President, gave Mike Adenuga money from the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) which were invested in Mike’s bank, Equatorial Trust Bank (ETB), and that the funds were used in paying for the Globacom licence.

2. That as a result of the connection in (a) Atiku was a major shareholder in Globacom. And Atiku used his clout to ensure that PTDF money got into ETB.

3. That General Ibrahim Babangida, the former Head of State, was also a major shareholder in Globacom.”

“It was not enough for Mike to merely present his case to EFCC, for it seemed the EFCC was under some remote control. The Presidency was after Atiku. Atiku at some point was the Chairman of the PTDF; an attempt was being made to indict him for alleged illegal and unauthorized channelling of PTDF money into Globacom. All sorts of rumours were flying around and the Presidency wanted to pin down the case against Atiku. If Ibrahim Babangida also fell into the trap, so much the better. A wide opening presented itself and EFCC seized it.”

“G.Subair is Mike’s second cousin. His father died young and he grew up, just as I did in my early life, living with Mike’s mother. He worked for Mike and was seconded, amongst other things, to open the Kaduna office for Globacom. In need of accommodation or office space, he leased, on behalf of Globacom, a house, at 2-3 Dawaki Road in Kaduna belonging to Mohammed Badamasi Babangida and used that address in official correspondence and memoranda. Mohammed is the first son of President Ibrahim Babangida. This was Babangida connection to which EFCC hung on when they were rummaging through Globacom documents. This was, according to them, irrefutable evidence that Babangida was a major shareholder in Globacom and that his son, Mohammed Babangida, or G.Subair or Mike was fronting for Babangida in this venture.”

“Mike told me how he had raised money through the BNP Paribas Bank in France and how he paid to New York for the Globacom licensing fees. All the money involved could be traced with supporting documents to France and New York in the form of a huge loan. The Bank BNP Paribas on its part had a letter stating clearly their involvement in the transaction and Mike wanted to present this among other documents to President Obasanjo. I called Obasanjo and relayed the facts as I had them from Mike to him. I requested for his fax number so that I could fax Mike’s letter explaining all the transactions and the Bank of Paribas letter to him. As soon as he gave me the fax number, I faxed the documents to him. Still, Obasanjo was not satisfied. It seemed that it was all a ruse because they were really after Atiku and Babangida and wanted Mike to implicate them. Mike refused to cooperate. If he was not going to cooperate, they thought, harassment would do it. On 19 August 2006, I made a statement to the press asking Obasanjo to caution Nuhu Ribadu, the head of the EFCC, about his mode of operations. I denounced the harassment of citizens by EFCC and urged them to go to court if they had anything concrete against anyone.”

“While Mike was in exile, we shared a moment of relaxation together. We took a holiday together in south of France with some members of our families. I had with me my wife Olori Kemi, my daughter, Ronke and Oba Adekoya, the Dagburewe of Idowa. Mike came along with his two daughters and his niece.”

“While on this holiday, the President of France, Jacques Chirac, was going to be holding a conference with African Heads of State in Nice. Coincidentally, we got to know that Obasanjo was booked to stay in the same hotel where we were staying. Later, we learnt he had changed his mind and would not be attending the conference. Then not long afterwards, we were told he had decided to attend after all. By the time he finally decided to attend, all the rooms in the hotel were fully booked and he was now booked into another, Embassy Hotel, which was a stone’s throw from when we were.”

“I got to know that he would check in at 8.00am on the day of the conference. At 8.330am, I went to his hotel and took Mike along with me. From the reception, I spoke to him on the phone. When he asked from where I was speaking, I told him I was downstairs in the lobby of his hotel! He said he would send someone down immediately to lead me up to his suite, and he did so. I left Mike behind in the hotel lobby. When I got to his suite, there were already a number of people in the corridor, in his living room and the dining room waiting to see him. His ADC took me straight to see him in his bedroom. I had hardly settled down when he started talking to me about his deputy, Abubakar Atiku. He was at daggers drawn with Atiku. When he exhausted all he had to say about Atiku, he jumped on Theophilus Danjuma, his estranged friend. They fell out after Danjuma had served him as Minister of Defence. I sat there just listening. He needed to get a lot off his chest. He told me how would leave the Chirac conference immediately after the opening because he wanted to attend a PDP campaign in Gombe at 5.00pm that same day. He was lead campaigner for the PDP and Umaru Yar’adua for President.”

“He reeled off a number of events where he was going to be engaged in the coming months, including the opening of the Obajana Cement Factory. Wait a minute! Something struck me at the mention of Obajana Cement Factory.I told him that I had heard that he and Aliko Dangote jointly owned the cement factory. I told him that I heard Dangote was fronting for him in the venture. His reply was to query whether I believed what I heard. I countered by saying whether I believed it or not was irrelevant to the question that I had asked him. He said nothing further on this. Before we left his room, I pointed out to him that now that he was approaching the end of his term in office, there were some people to whom he owed apologies: Chief S.O. Bakare (Oluwalogbon) was one. Chief Bakare gave everything to support Obasanjo when he was down. In spite of Obasanjo’s condemnation by the populace, Bakare still stood by him. I had forewarned Bakare that Obasanjo would eventually dump him. Notwithstanding, he stood by Obasanjo. In the end Obasanjo walked away. A few months in office they separated as friends.”

“I told Obasanjo that Mike Adenuga was in Cannes and that I had brought him with me. He was waiting in the foyer downstairs. I told him that the reason I brought Mike along was that it was not unlikely that Obasanjo would hear that Mike was in Cannes while he was in town and would deem it discourteous if Mike did not show up to pay his respect. Now that I had told him, that Mike was downstairs, it was now up to him, if he wanted to see Mike, to send someone to bring him up. Obasanjo objected to Mike coming to see him in his suite. Instead, he said he would see Mike downstairs on his way to the conference. At this point, I volunteered to go downstairs and wait with Mike. Obasanjo again objected, insisting that he and I should go down together. Soon after, his ADC came into the room to remind him about the time. He went into his bathroom, got ready and we went to the lift with his Foreign Minister.”

“When we got down, Mike came forward to greet him. ‘I have nothing against you, it is a matter of principle’ Obasanjo told Mike. Mike in turn said, ‘Your Excellency, I understand. Thank you.’ That was all the exchange they had.”

“When Obasanjo left office in 2007, we met at the 90th birthday ceremony for Chief T.O.S Benson in Lagos on 23 July 2007. As a matter of fact, we sat side by side. In the course of our conversation, I told him I was going to be in Abeokuta the following day. He said he would be in Ota when I was there, but that he would specifically come to Abeokuta to host me for lunch. He kept his word. So much so that he called me on the phone when lunch was ready! I assured him that I would not miss lunch and I would be with him as soon as I was through with my meeting.”

“I went as promised for lunch with Oba Adekoya, the Dagburewa of Idowa. When we got there, Obasanjo also had Alhaji Ola Yusuf from Owu, Abeokuta, who had come to see him and he too joined us for lunch. We were four at table. It was sumptuous lunch, and I had never been treated to anything like it in our long relationship.”

“Mike Adenuga was still in exile abroad and Obasanjo steered the lunch talk in his direction. He asked me to ask my son meaning Mike Adenuga, to return home. I requested that he should leave the matter until after lunch and it would be tackled on a one-to-one basis between us. He agreed.”

“After lunch, we went into his private sitting room. I declared that what Nuhu Ribadu, Chairman of EFCC, was doing in respect of Mike Adenuga was wrong and he was doing it at Obasanjo’s behest. I told him that I refrained from interfering because I wanted to see how the law would pan out on the issue. The kernel of the matter really, as I told him, was his disagreement with Abubakar Atiku, his deputy, and they had taken the matter almost life-and –death level. Mike Adenuga was a pawn in the crisis and he should be given the right to defend himself.”

“I reminded Obasanjo that he was no longer in office and he should back off in his pursuit of Mike. I went further to let him know that if Nuhu Ribadu did not desist from molesting Mike, I would go into the ring with them. Here I made clear that I would take him and Ribadu to unnecessarily and unjustifiably pursue Mike. Obasanjo promised to see Ribadu and to ask him to back off. He further promised to give me a feedback on this.”

“When I did not get his feedback, I called him a number of times, but the phone would ring and not be answered. Eventually, I called his aide, Bodunde Adeyanju, who on picking my call passed the phone to Obasanjo to speak to me. Obasanjo told me Ribadu was out of the country and he would get back again to me on Ribadu’s return. I told Obasanjo how difficult it had been to reach him on the phone. I offered a solution. I would ask Mike to send him a phone which he would give his aide, Bodunde, as an intermediary. This way, all I had to do was call that number and Bodunde would pass it to him if he wanted to speak to me. He agreed and Mike sent the phone down the next day. But still Obasanjo did not come back to me on the issue.”

“Mike remained in exile in London and nothing much was heard again or raised by the EFCC about him. Later in 2007, I called Mike in London and told him I wanted to know why he had refused to return home. Since he had no skeleton in his cupboard, then he should return home. I explained to him that the purpose of the wealth with which he had been divinely endowed was to care for his needs, and his interests. It was also for use to defend his honour and integrity. For these reasons, I urged him to return home.”

“Thereafter, Mike returned home. Nobody touched him and no institution has prosecuted him because there was no genuine reason from the onset for anybody to touch him. However, the construction project at Bells University slowed considerably while Mike was in exile and a few solicitous calls from Obasanjo to Mike while he was in exile did not change the pace of work. On his return from exile, the school Bells University had the temerity to write to him seeking for a meeting to discuss the continuation of the project. When I got to know, I offered to be in attendance at the meeting and sent word round that I would be in attendance. I had the intention to lambast all of them. They must have sensed it because up till now, the meeting has not been held!”

“All the enormous goodwill which Obasanjo carried into office was squandered with a performance that left him with a second term short of tangible achievements. Eight years in office was ample time to put electricity on a very strong footing. Eight years was enough to put down a strong foot against corruption and make a clear difference. Eight years was adequate for orderliness and the rule of law to triumph in every facet of our society. These were the basis upon which I gave him my support for the office. Some new State Governors have shown how much good can be achieved in a shorter time.”

The drama continues....

Police Arrests Fake Soldier For Stealing Bikes

The operatives of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected fake soldier allegedly involved in stealing motorcycles, popularly known as okada across the states in Nigeria.

The suspect, Benjamin Okon, who has been parading himself as a military personnel, was arrested by the policemen who acted on a tip-off from members of the public.

It was learnt that the policemen swooped into action upon receiving the information, which eventually led to the arrest of the suspect on Sunday, January 1st 2017 at about 05.00 hrs.

“The suspect was fond of intimidating members of the public under the pretense that he is a Military personnel. His hostile attitude made people not to associate with him, however, when we suspected his moves, we summoned courage to report to the police”, the source revealed.

The suspect, who made a confessional statement during investigation at the police Command, said that he had an accomplice (name withheld) who received the stolen items from him.

He revealed that he usually goes to neighbouring states to snatch motorcycles, and his receiver, helped him to sell them to prospective buyers.

“I am an expert at snatching motorcycles from unsuspecting members of the public. I had stolen countless of Okada, which my accomplice had helped me to sell. I do travel far and wide across the country to perpetrate this crime.

I robbed and sold looted items to him, and he subsequently sell them to some other persons. Once I bring the bikes to him, he will pay me off and I will move on to steal another one”, the suspect revealed.

In her reaction, the State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Superintendent of Police, Dolapo Badmus, who confirmed the incident, said that the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.

She noted that efforts are in top gear to apprehend the receivers and others who have connection with the crime.

Read Prophet Iginla's 73 Strange And Alarming Predictions

Prophecies are signposts and roadmaps on the journey of destiny. They provide comfort and give assurance from the mind of God concerning the future.

They stabilize us in the midst of the storms of life. When others are concerned and fear grips their hearts, a person with prophetic insight is not moved because he has understanding of the times.

However, you don't just receive prophecies and go to bed. You have to war with them to bring them to pass or avert them when it's negative. God reveals to redeem.

You have to hold God at His word and call them to manifestation. Thus, this 72 prophetic insight for 2017 by the Set Man of Champions Royal Assembly, Bro Joshua Iginla for individuals and nations is meant to guide them into what's at stake and take appropriate precautions where necessary.

1 In 2017, I see more pressure on his excellency, Mr president to sack the incubent CBN Governor. It will take divine Grace for him to remain in that office.

2. Senator Saraki. The Senate president should not think that the trials are over. I see more storm and trials that will take a new turn from his enemies and political distractor. They will scheme for his removal. He should be very careful because I see much betrayal of promise. They might backstab him. I see promises made in the secret to him that will not be kept. He should pray that the people in his camp should not see the storm overwhelming him, thus leaving him in the storm.

3 The hardsip and poverty in Nigeria will increase. Mr president will do all he can in his power to reshuffle some of his cabinet in order to rescue issues but because his administration has more enemies than friends, they will frustrate all his efforts. However, I see a light at the end of the tunnel but it will not free us from this hardship. Rather , it will increase, it will be strong but I have good news for you, those who know their God will be exempted.

4 I see a part in this country that the military will move swiftly to rescue because of the crisis that will come out of there. it will be like a tail of crocodile slapping the water. It is between 2018 - 2019 that this crisis will blow but in 2017, we will see a symptom of it splashing the water. Sensitive crisis from one part of the nation that needs the current administration to be sensitive and pray about it.

5 I see the issue of flood resuming. I see heavy down pour. I see some of the corruption that has been there over 2 years ago to curb such flood will be exposed because this will affect a lot of buildings.

6 Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Benue, Kaduna, Adamawa and Plateau should pray against serious attack like herdsmen, terrorism, radical extremist and religious attacks which will increase but God will give us Victory.

7. The dollar exchange rate will rise up above 600. It will go up.

8 - His Excellency, Mr President should pray for his health, I see him traveling out for an unscheduled health checkup. But this time, it will be more serious. He should pray for his health, God will keep him.

9 There will be serious attempt to frustrate the Vice President . This attempt will be so strong. There are some cabals that will want him out of the seat. This attempt would not just be by political measures but an attempt through striking of his life as well. He should pray and be careful but the Lord will keep him.

10 The Churches in Nigeria will go through serious persecution. Some major ministries will receive serious court judgement that will be unfavourable but God will keep such ministries. There will be strong persecution. Lets Pray to God to keep the church in Nigeria. God spoke to me and said this is the time Nigeria should be ever united as it has been in the history of the country because what is ahead of us, one cannot fight. It will take measures of too many people connecting with heart and mind to fight.

11 The current government will prevail so much over the issue of Boko Haram but it will not die. Rather, it will take a new dimension. It will worsen but at the tail end between 2017 - 2018, most especially 2018, that's when we will get the victory better on the issue of Boko haram.

13 I see another monster that will be created before the end of this regime meant to distract the incumbent President and his crew. Just as Boko haram was a distraction to the previous Government. I see another distraction that is coming. It will be stronger than what we heard about. That's why we should continue to pray not to continue going from one circle of battle to the other.

13 The agitation of Biafra will take another turn. Pray so that this time it should not be bloody. We should pray for Kanu Nnamdi, the biafra leader, because I see an health challenge and I see bitterness and agitation from thissame region he is coming from. And I pray the current admistration is very sensitive over the case of Nnamdi Kanu because what I see is not too good. May the Lord keep Nigeria. Will he come out? Yes! How will he come out? I can't really tell. I see it as something divine. I don't see legal issue as a means of removing him from there.

14 I keep repeating this prophecy for the past three years and I'm still repeating it. There is a great man of God whose candle light has finished. There's nothing we can do about it. This is an home calling to glory and I keep saying this. God said I should re-echo it. This is an important but sensitive minister in the body of Christ. His candle light has gone down but is living by Extra grace. I still see this same prophecy in 2017. I pray God will show mercy and grace on him.

15 We should pray against another terrorist attack in Abuja. God will avert it!

16 A former president and great man should pray to cross this year 2017 to the next year.

17 The clamour for his Excellency, Mr president, to come back in 2019 will be very high. Buhari should be very careful. There's a lot of judases around him. They are only digging his grave for him unknowingly. He should be very careful.

18 I see a shake in the Government. I see new ministers coming in.

19 The governor of Rivers state will suffer a lot of political persecution but it will not stop what God is about to do.

20 The Lord spoke to me and said what Amaechi was to the ex-president is what Ayo Fayose will become to President Buhari in this regime. The same persecution that Amaechi gave the previous Government is the same persecution Fayose will give Buhari. He should not be underestimated because I see him making a move that may result in revolution.

21 Rivers and Ekiti state Governors should be very careful. There will be attempt even over their lives. I don't know by which party but that's what I saw.

22 I see a governor that will narrowly escape death. God will keep him. Infact, he will have to go to the house of God thanksgiving.

23 APC has served its purpose. In 2017, the party will begin to see major Cracks and before 2019 there's a powerful party that will merge out and will form strong alliance in 2017. It will become solid in 2018. APC has served it's purpose. It's like a piece of paper thrown away after being used. APC has served its purpose. A new party that will take Nigeria to the next level will rise up and I don't know how but I see this party consisting of members of the ruling party and opposition party fusing together causing what I call unwanted diffusion that will lead to a future catastrophe but before it, there is going to be calm on the nerves of Nigerians. Even the new party that will come in is like joining petrol and Kerosine together and mixing it up with water.

24 I'm sorry to say this but it is what I Saw. Nigeria will continue to have old faces ruling this country. They will keep circulating powers among themselves. The faces we will be seeing won't be really new. They will keep changing from one regime to another till 2031.

25. In 2031, I see a face rising up that will take Nigeria to where we ought to be. He is a true David we should look up to. A strong, vibrant, intelligent leader and a bridge maker. By this time, 3 major political fathers who caused change in this generation would have gone to glory.

26. God said there are some cabals he's going to call to glory before the true David emerge.

27. I saw a mighty hand sweeping Nigeria. What I saw was a golden fork sweeping but it took time to gather the dirt. It took sometime that is the space of time I saw in my vision

28. In 2035, there will be a strong female politician that will rise. She will become very strong, fearless, confrontational and she will be a running mate. That's a vice president position.

29. Between 2039 - 2051, Nigeria will have a female President that will turn the country in another dimension.

30. The tension in 2019 will be worse than 2015 election. We must pray against military intervention, please let's pray as it can be averted.

31. We must pray against cancellation of results after election in 2019.

32. I see the seat of an African leader empty because of death.

33. Some politicians are agitating to rule forever. As long as they are on the seat, there's nothing anyone can do about it. Hear what God said about them. He said ' Is it not the living that will rule? The dead body can't rule.

34. I see thick dark cloud over sokoto. Please pray for sokoto state in 2017.

35. Pray for the aviation industry. I saw thick dark cloud on one of the airlines. I pray and I cancel such aircraft crash in Jesus name.

36. There will be some cabal in the ruling party that will move the motion to remove the National chairman of the ruling party. They will pass vote of no confidence against him. They will cry and criticise him more. It will be very strong just as it happened in PDP , It will happen in APC. I see the seat of the national ruling party leader shaking before the next election.

37. Buhari will do his best to move Nigeria forward but all his best will be thwarted by the enemies of Nigeria. It is not about Buhari, it is about some cabals who are enemies of Nigeria. Though we have angels sitting at the helms of affairs, if this cabal don't die, Nigeria will remain in a cage.

It will go bitter, cold and that will so much affect a lot of things in some areas in America. So many dirty deals of the past regime will be exposed by the current regime.

44. There will be attempt to attack the incoming president of America but God will preserve him.

45 I see some American political elite that will maintain political division and this will affect the performance of the new president. They will not share some of his views and as a result of that, the division will be so strong that it will be evident.

46. The conflict between the USA and China will erupt and it will slow the wheel of progress for both Nations.

Christianity in India will soon be a wide fire catching all over and it will be accepted and move forward than ever before.

51. I see the government of India having a strong alliance with 3 powerful Nations in 2017. I see it so very strong.

52. I see a train accident that will be averted but some people will still die. The hazard will not be as intended by the enemies.

53. The political environment in India will be tensed and I see the ruling party holding to power.

CHINA : 54. The economy will be very strong, viable, and it will overtake others economically .

55 China will become a strong threat to world powers mostly of the number one one world powers.

56. Between 2018 and 2021, China will be at the top of the chart because of what God showed me.

57. There are some super powers we have now that are very strong but will lose the position. Its not as a result of failure but because there's a shift taking place in th realm of the spirit.

58. China should pray against plane crash. I avert it in Jesus Name.

GHANA : 59. Alot of past leaders will go to Jail and the new president will be celebrated for just 6 months and after that he will become unpopular.

60. Ghana will soon experience the same challenge like Nigeria. What is happening in Nigeria will be duplicated in Ghana. The new president will do well but his enemies will be more than his intention. I pray for God's speedy intervention.

FRANCE : 61. There will be relative peace from the first quarter of the year but I still see a co-ordinated attack that will still come inside the Nation's capital. I cancel it now!
