The suspended Rivers Commissioner of Finance, Dr. Fred Kpakol has threatened Governor Nyesom Wike that if his so-called suspension is not reversed within 48 hours, he will be compelled to open ten cans of worms that will lay bare in public glare the nauseating layers upon layers of rot under the heavy weight of which the present Government of Rivers State has been struggling.
Late yesterday, Mr. Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Adviser to Governor Wike on electronic media in a terse statement shockingly announced the suspension of Dr Fred Kpakol, a development which came to Rivers people as a surprise.
Speaking to journalists who accosted him while leaving his office at the state secretariat late Friday evening, Dr Fred Kpakol, appearing downcast and dispirited, summoned courage to say" I feel very worried over this shocking development. I am as surprised as all of you here. I don't really know what the issues are."
Continuing, he said: "I concede that His Excellency Chief Nyesom Wike has the right to hire and fire, but I also have the right to my integrity and reputation as a responsible, highly educated and respected Rivers man. I find it appalling and totally unacceptable that my boss the Governor could jettison established channels of communication between us in favour of this monstrously embarrassing situation of a mere S.A on Electronic Media who is not even a Rivers man announcing my so-called suspension on radio when my boss has not uttered a word to me or establish any accusation against me".
Looking clearly exasperated and talking more vehemently, Dr Fred Kpakol said, "I have a reasonable expectation that my boss the Governor will reverse this so-called suspension in the next 48 hours from now, failure of which I will muster every strength in me as freeborn of Ogoni of Rivers State to spill be beans that will turn the contours of the physiognomy of the public. I will uncork ten cans of worms and spill them to the public. As Commissioner of Finance, I know how much this government has made. I know how much we have generated from IGR. I know about the movement of cash to Abuja for the court case. I will spill everything and redeem my image. I don't want to say more than that for now".
There are serious allegations within government circle that Dr. Fred, in collusion with the Accountant-General of the state, fearing that the Supreme Court would sack his boss, engineered one of the biggest frauds in the history the Ministry of Finance when over 1.2 billion suddenly developed wings and disappeared without trace one day to the Supreme Court verdict on the Rivers guber case, a situation that reportedly infuriated Governor Wike into announcing his suspension.
However, with the suspended commissioner threatening to spill the beans on the Wike government, it appears a thrilling drama is set in Rivers State which will rock the entire south-south. The governor is believed to have used billions of Rivers money to placate the court into affirming his mandate, with the suspended commissioner at the center of all the dirty financial deals. It promises to be tumultuous!
