…Seek Increased Police Presence, Judicious Use of Equipment 
Commendations have continued to pour in for Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode over the procurement and donation of modern security gadgets to the Nigerian Police to adequately curb criminal activities in the State, with many calling for judicious use and adequate maintenance of the equipment.
Speaking in Lagos at a forum, the Obanikoro of Lagos, Chief Adesoji Adeniji commended the Governor for taking the initiative to equip the police, adding that the development was one of the fulfillments of his progress on security.       

Gani Adams slams senate over bill against social media, others



The National Coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Otunba Adams, has condemned the Senate for seeking to introduce a bill aimed making it an offence to publish any petition or complaint against a public officer without being supported with a sworn affidavit.
The bill, entitled ‘An act to prohibit frivolous petitions and other matters connected therewith’, Adams said is dangerous for the nation’s nascent democracy.

GOV AHMED GIVES LG CHAIRMEN A WEEK TO REVERSE UNAUTHORISED APPOINMENTS




The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has given the 8 suspended council chairmen a week to reverse the unauthorised recruitment or face further sanctions. The remaining eight sitting chairmen also have the same deadline to reverse the appointments if they are involved or be referred to the State House of Assembly for stiffer sanctions.

Oba Adeyemi in an exclusive interview with Ooduavoice crew in London said that " The Yoruba race is one of the most sophisticated of all races in the world. The race is a pathfinder in science , DNA , architecture , medicine ,mathematics , geography and IT . We have never played second fiddle in our history of social miscegenation and political sophistry "
He pointed out that " The first set of colonialists who visited the Oyo Empire were confounded by the system of government they met in Oyo . The check and balance mode planted by our forefathers was never practice anywhere in the world "
Oba Adeyemi also lamented the gradual extinction of the Yoruba values and heritage which he blamed on "a carefully planned and systematically orchestrated imposition of western culture on everything which has any link with cultural value "
Alafin of Oyo who commended Otunba Gani Adams for his efforts at raising Yoruba value described the establishment of the Ooduavoice Radio in London as "not only worth commendation and praise but an effort which tell all that there are rays in the tunnel "
Oba Adeyemi revealed "as for me , I will continued to protect and promote Yoruba Heritage till I am called by the Almighty God . I am ready and willing to defend the cultural heritage of Yoruba race even if it demands shedding my last pint of blood "

At least one fireman is presently unconscious following gas explosion in Owode Onirin, a suburb of Lagos.
The incident according to Director of Fire, Lagos State, Dr. Rasaq Fadipe occurred early Wednesday evening. It was gathered that officials of the Lagos State Fire Service were on ground to tackle the incident, adding that the affected fireman fainted after inhaling poisonous fumes from the explosion.

UN rewards SPDC JV Afam VI Power Plant for reducing carbon emissions




Lagos, Nigeria – The Afam VI Power Plant in Rivers State has been recognised and rewarded by the United Nations for reducing carbon emissions through environmentally friendly operations. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) issued the 650-megawatt plant some 541,537 Certified Emission Reductions (CER) credits for its first crediting period between November 1 2012 and October 31, 2013. This makes the plant, built and operated by The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) Joint Venture, the first energy efficiency project on power generation registered from Nigeria and also the first UN registered Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) initiative in the Shell Group.
