TOP ACTORS STORM PORT HARCOURT FOR BON AWARDS’ CHILDREN’S DAY READING


President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima, would lead other star actors like Joseph Benjamin, Mercy Aigbe, Tamara Eteimo, Alex Ekubo and Yomi Fash Lanso among others to Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Children’s Day, May 27th for a reading and mentoring session as part of activities lined up for the 2014 Best of Nollywood, BON, awards. The Rivers State government is the host of this year’s award. Five prominent movie stars who have made their mark in the Yoruba movie world Femi Adebayo,Muyiwa Ademola,Faithia Balogun,Olaniyi Afonja and Adekola Tijani have floated a charity organization with the main intention to give back to the society.

Soldiers Intercept Suspected Boko Haram Ammunition Supply Vehicle, Arrest DSP, Others


At least three persons, including a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, and a corporal, Abu Haruna, Solomon have been arrested for illegal trafficking of arms and ammunition. The third suspect, Onuwa Attaka, is the driver of the arms laden vehicle.

It was gathered that their confession showed alleged involvement in supply of arms to insurgents in Northern Nigeria.

FAYEMI CAMPAIGN ORGANISATION CONDEMNS ATTACK ON JOURNALISTS


The Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation has condemned the attack on journalists at the Labour Party campaign rally in Ikere-Ekiti, describing it as the peak of irresponsibility and the height of desperation on the part of the perpetrators of the attack.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Dimeji Daniels, the organisation said under no circumstances should journalists who were carrying out their constitutional responsibility be attacked in the name of politics.

Caleb University imposes N150m surcharge on students


Caleb University, one of the second generation private universities based in Imota, Lagos State, has imposed a record N150 million surcharge on all its students to offset the alleged damages done to the school’s property during a riot by some male students on May 13.
The male students allegedly protested against the school’s “very strict dress code and other strict code of conduct”.
